These people are soooo London Centric. Most green belt land that will be built under Labour, will not be in London, it will be on farm land in the countyside as it has been for some years now. My village in East Kent has just more than doubled in size due to new houses on farmland, but no new schools, or GPs surgeries, or roads, or shops, or other infrastructure, and the houses are not now occupied by locals or first time buyers, they are now owned by people from London forcing locals out of the area.
Labour had plenty of opportunity to build houses in the Blair Brown era. It would have made sense to have a plan to do that if the doors were to be opened to mass migration from accession EU countries. They endlessly asked what was "the plan for Brexit", but they never asked what was the plan importing millions of people. As it turned out the Labour record of house building in office was dismal and no better than the Tories. They could have also abolished section 21 "no fault" evictions if that rule is so iniquitous. But they didn't. They are doing so now in an attempt to scapegoat private landlords for homelessness and high housing costs which resulted from their political failure.

Capsule housing is the way forward. I've stayed in some overseas. We could manufacture them here in Britain. Quick to manufacture, quick to put up and cheap. Far faster than the current lifeless new builds we currently have popping up.
What is Reform going to do about foreign investors buying up loads of properties in London and never ever having any tenants living in them? What about all the foreigners people buying properties all over the country (never ever setting foot in the country) in order to be landlords charging ridiculous rents for people - raising rents in the surrounding areas to ridiculous levels? The Tories have only ever worried about their rich pals all around the world - that’s who they have been enriching and benefiting the whole time they have been in power. They have never been concerned about their fellow countrymen in my lifetime.

Bye bye countryside, bye bye farm land and hello hello garden villages (towns). As towns become bigger, people will move towards voting Lib Dem and Labour so yes I think Labour could be onto a winner here in the long term at least. What power does a small village have against the government/county council and land developers? The housing issue is not an easy one to solve however.
Ok so British taxpayers and veterans will go to the bottom of the pile as usual. So who will Angela Rayner allow to live in these new houses???? Use brownfield sites first. Renovate undesirable properties to make them more desirable. Get more council property available for rent as they languish whilst waiting to be updated and some councils have lots not rented out

Sorry, but the rate of legal migration (not counting the thousands of illegals) in to this country, based on the government's own published statistics states the number is over 685,000 net! These are numbers of people we know of... Sorry, but you cannot import the population of a city every single year and expect to be able to build enough homes for the people currently living here, for people in future born through natural population growth & then on top of that have enough homes for over 685 thousands people come here a year! This is completely unsustainable and the sheer weight of the demand on public services is pushing them to the breaking point... I am also against the idea of paving over every square foot of land in this country, turning it in to an ugly sci-fi dystopian mega-city just to accommodate for foreigners our malicious political class keep inviting in!
