Very many of us are disgusted by Labour's cynical attack on older people. Of course, we can all see that there are older people who have made provision for their retirement and are better off than the majority. We all applaud that and are happy when that case applies. However, many older persons have not been in that position. Just because we understand the challenges that many older people face, doesn't mean that we think older people are less capable of being self reliant. Far from it. Those that are internet savvy and have been able to make provision for their futures are all to the good but, many older people have the opposite situation in their lives. Labour doesn't care either way. They will target older people's private pensions, savings and investments mercilessly in the future. That is without any doubt. Watch this Labour space. On the subject of carers. I absolutely agree. Carers need to be much better paid (unlike train drivers). They work to support the most vulnerable amonst older and younger people alike. I think Labour has done a good thing looking at improving carers conditions. We are not critical of this government just for the sake of it. We see that, overall, they have done nothing for the majority community whatsoever. That is whether you happen to be older or, younger.

In this case, if you were led to believe part of your National Insurance (NI) contributions were going into a Government fund for retirement and you pay for 45 years, only to find out when you then retire that they were actually, only considered a benefit payment, that you may or may not be entitled to and those contributions could be given away to someone else instead. could it be seen as a material misrepresentation?
