Hi Andre, There certainly are a lot of backyard breeders. Sadly, "doodles" attract a lot of them. A backyard breeder is one who does not do health testing, does not provide quality nutrition for their dogs, does not take their socialisation into consideration, does not provide them with a safe home, does not provide them enough enrichment or love. They do not register their dogs, adhere to a code of ethics as mandated by a breed club, do not have traceable pedigrees or breed to a breed standard as outlined by a breed club. You'll find a lot of doodle type dogs and breeders will fall into this category. The same can be said for breeders who "just have one litter" for "their kids to experience" or are similarly entirely uneducated and without proper equipment and knowledge to breed a dog, assist a dog during pregnancy, whelp the litter and then raise the litter. They also will not vet families who want a puppy. They won't have a screening process with an application required as well as an interview. @@VanIsleDoodles There is no way to be a doodle breeder and not be a backyard breeder. Health testing and registering is the absolute bare minimum of what ated breeders should be doing. You're talking about standards and pedigrees while discussing mutts, you're no better than the people running puppy mills to supply puppies for pet stores. You can love your dogs as much as you want but at the end of the day you're contributing to the plague of doodles that's being spreading all over the world. You're literally just breeding mutts to make money off of them, don't try tell me I need to be educated when you're literally a mutt breeder
