The baby actor loved the goblins so much that they had to wait until he got hungry and cranky for him to cry. The whole time he was just playing with them and laughing.

Not completely the _first_ CGI, but it is the first CGI animal to be animated with that level of realistic detail. It may not seem like it by today’s standards, but it is a milestone in the medium. By any standards, though, I still think that the end of the intro, with the transition from the CGI owl to the real owl, is really cool.

🎶 "Everything I've done, I've done for you. I move the stars for no one." 🎶 Fun Fact: One of the choreographers for this movie was Cheryl McFadden. You and everyone else knows her better as Gates McFadden, Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). Dancing Hands Fact: The "Dance Magic" scene consisted of over forty-eight muppets, fifty-two puppeteers, and eight people in goblin costumes. Over one hundred pairs of latex hands were made for the "Helping Hands" scene. Jareth's Balls Fact: The various things that Jareth does with the crystal balls (rolling them around his arms and in his hands and so forth) are not camera tricks or any other kind of special effect. They are actually done by choreographer Michael Moschen, who is an accomplished juggler. Moschen was actually crouched behind David Bowie with his arm(s) replacing Bowie's. Unlike a typical Muppet performance, however, he had no video screen to view his performance. In other words, his manipulations were performed completely blind.

Hey BigGator!!!! Thanks for being here (: Love the fun facts, as always!!! Oooh, we've never seen Star Trek...that may be good to get into?? 48 puppets, 52 puppeteers, and 8 goblins!!!! OMG! 100 pairs of gloves, ha! WOW!!!

No. I would suggest you guys do Star Trek in Release Order, series and movies. It would be a fun time. I have a different suggested order for Star Wars, but that is for another time. Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍

David Bowie went through so many style changes, musically and visually over the years of his career. It seemed like every few years, he re-emerged as a totally different artist from before. Even his singing style varied, from a higher-pitched nasal tone in the early days to a baritone in the 80s and on. A couple of my favorites are from his industrial rock era in the 90s, "Little Wonder" and "Hallo Spaceboy" (the album version - a video was made for a remix version, but I prefer the former).
@bwilliams463
@bwilliams463 12 дней назад
I'm partial to his lower-voiced songs like 'Modern Love,' 'Space Oddity' and 'This Is Not America.' On the other hand, I can't stand 'Under Pressure;' I think Vanilla Ice was the best thing ever to happen to that song.

The only fun fact I have left that no one has mentioned so far: Sarah's dog is named Merlin. Sir Didymus's steed, who as you noted looks suspiciously like Merlin, is called Ambrosius. Ambrosius is actually another name for the wizard Merlin.

The fancy hand moves with the crystal were performed by Michael Moschen, who performs what is known as contact juggling. What made the scene especially hard was he had to perform the act crouching behind David Bowie and try to stay out of the camera shot, meaning he had to perform the juggling without being able to see what he was doing.

The Kobold King himself had been taken by goblins in youth, and once tried to return to the world. Even considered conquering the world once, but decided he never belonged there. There have been many "Sarah"s, perhaps into antiquity, but few ever had the wit to solve his labyrinth. Such a pity. He'd made himself untouchable with purpose, and if he were to do a favor, or grant a wish, you can be sure he will play for keeps. Hoping his reincarnated unrequited love will show up in more than his crystals, match him in every way, and join him to make his kingdom complete. Otherwise he'd rather advocate the throne and pursue a life of mischief, but he can not leave his goblin subjects without a king, for though the king is as ruthless as he is relentless; There lived no brownie nor bandersnatch that would deny there had never been a more fitting king in all the faery histories than Jareth the Goblin King.

George Lucas was executive producer for this. That makes me wonder whether or not Ludo can feel the Force and that's why he can summon rocks. He had no training, so that's all he knows how to do. I have heard that he appears as an easter egg in The Rise of Skywalker, supposedly at the bar among other aliens, seen in the background somewhere. I've read that there was supposed to be a scene where we would have actually seen him but it was cut.

@@ScottEJPerez It's still one of my favorites. A very unconventional fantasy. The villains are not what you expect in the end. Froud also did some exceptional books on the faerie folk.

This is my all time favourite movie. I first saw it in 1986 on the big screen, in a double feature with the Transformers movie. Since then, I've seen it so many times, on many formats. TV, VHS, DVD, Streaming and MP4 on USB. I know it is well over 100x, literally lost count. I love the meta format of the movie. You have to really watch it several times to take it all in. What I mean by meta? Everything in her reality, her room, her house, the town, the park... all have representations within the fantastical world of the maze. For example, the book end is Hoggle, the music box ballerina is her in costume when she was drugged by the peach, the MC Escher poster above her bed (Relativity) is the staircase scene inside the castle... and I could literally go on with so many examples. And everytime I see it, there is always something new to I uncover. Another fun Easter Egg are the seven hidden portraits through the maze of David Bowie, one right in the centre of the screen made up of rocks. I love the humour too. The silly Goblin City battle, the Worm, the Bird Brained Wiseman, the Door Knockers'... but my favourite sumerous character is Sir Didymus. He reminds me of the classic British puppet, Basil Brush. Another one of my favourite scenes are the creepy, yet creative Helping Hands. So imaginative, way more than what was going to be the original version of that scene. You should also check out the making of documentary, "Inside the Labyrinth", I believe that it is available on RU-vid too. Footnote, the baby was not terrified by the puppets, he grew up to be a puppet technician. I know you really enjoyed this movie, I have another recommendation, a movie called Legend from 1985. It is another fantastic fantasy movie you may enjoy.

If like this, there's another similar, but no musical, called "Dark Crystal" most seem to have forgotten about? As a 70's kid it's sad because many huge master flicks went unknown as soon as computer world hit, only because didn't get picked up by either video or cable & played 24-7 year on end like this one did, even though still not many reactions to this. Best example off top of head is Oscar worthy A++ Drama "Bad Boys" ('80?). As soon as computer world hit, only "Bad Boys" you see is silly Martin Lawrence, Will Smith cop flick comedy. You do you, friends, but i know there's lists of top flicks by year & would suggest you check there for the huge, beloved, but mostly forgotten flicks (due only to technology) for the best Classics? Think '84 considered best year ever for movies??? Its been a while since looked, but somewhere round mid-80's considered GOAT year, yet prob many people under 40 never heard of many on the lists? See ya! ✌️🌎❤️

Yay, so glad you watched this, I remember suggesting it 😀 This is my favorite movie ever, as you can probably tell from my pfp. I can probably tell you anything about this movie. It's a cult classic and I am a prime cult member 😉Here's one factoid I have always found really impressive: The contact juggling and spinning with the crystals wasn't done by David Bowie, it was done by a man named Michael Moschen, who is an expert juggler. He would be kneeling down behind David Bowie with his right arm in place of David's. So he wasn't just doing those moves with the crystals, he was doing them with gloves on and totally blind! I could probably also tell you anything you wanna know about David Bowie. I adore him.

People make a big fuss about how visible David Bowie's 'package' is. If you dress a guy in tights/pantyhose that is what you get, there is no real way around that. Jennifer Connelly was in Top Gun: Maverick, but nor the original. She has been in a number of other films, 'Requiem for a Dream' and 'The Rocketeer' among msay others. Sarah is a bit of a whiny teenger, I think her mother was an actress and has either died or divorced her dad, so she hates her stepmother. David Bowie is doing all the baby noises during the songs as well. The 'House of Stairs' is inspired by the Escher print 'Relativity; which can be seen on the wall in Sarah's bedroom. Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield sang the David Bowie song 'Space Oddity' while on the International Space Station. I'm sure you can find the video if you look.
