Brandee Hay says she never thought her coffee stand, Great Coffee NorthWest Coffee Co., would be the site of a political scandal.
But on July 7, security cameras captured a disturbing act from Lacey Councilman Ed Kunkel.
Video from that day shows Councilman Ed Kunkel standing with fellow Councilman Lenny Greenstein.
You can see Kunkel pulling a campaign sign out of the ground belonging to Thurston County Commissioner candidate Emily Clouse.
The two men then walk off-camera with the sign in hand.

Ed Kunkel is my opponent in this race and this is absolutely unacceptable behavior. This isn’t a newcomer it’s two seasoned politicians who are trying to take the voices of their opponents. They 100% know this is a crime and he admitted to doing it before.

How about calling this one a legit mis-understanding? If I get permission to place a yard sign and find an opponent yard sign in the ground when I arrive, the assumption is going to be it was illegally placed. The political loyalty of the voter/property owner is even unclear after this story.

As a candidate you know for sure what the law is regarding signs and how serious it is to remove one. Both of these council members know better.
