I used to have drive, until it led to a nervous breakdown after a couple of years of working myself to death and getting nowhere for it. 90% of jobs pay about the same, and 90% of employers give you a pass/fail. Pass and maybe you get a 2% raise this year. Fail and you go to work at any other job for the same 2 or 3 thousand a month, give or take. Work hard? Same pay. Get a new certification or degree? Same pay. 30 years experience? Same pay. Maybe less, because experience implies you're old, which employers don't want. Since it's basically impossible to earn significantly more, concentrate on spending less, which EVERYONE can achieve.

Why anything? Years of heavy traffic, pollution, road rage, accidents, hours and gas wasted on the road... Especially constantly having to drive in mind-numbing, soul-sucking traffic if you don't have to? The only ones bitching about it are the ones that can't, or the ones stuck with the vacancy rent! I was seeing and saying all of this around the millennium, as laptops and internet were getting better! I was thinking and telling people: Why "go to work," when I can do it from anywhere and upload it when I get a connection? Yes, I know: Control freaks and those that like, or need to be controlled... Another good one Dan! My brother and his wife and daughter live near Chimney Rock/Lake Lure NC and Asheville. That entire section of the state in the mountains and in Tennessee are basically gone. My brother and his wife lost their business and income and the schools are closed. Thankfully they were able to make it out before that dam burst and make it to our parents house near Spartanburg SC. Unfortunately they’ll probably be living with our parents for 2-4 weeks at least. All the roads are out and now truckers bringing supplies on the Tenn side are having their tires slashed at truck stops. Why? Add in the ports strike and we are in serious trouble if they can’t get that resolved quickly. So stock up on as much food as you can handle and keep your car filled with gas and get new propane tanks for your grills.

Yes, lack of drive destroys success. How do you inculcate drive in a young person? I counted once. As a military dependent, I attended 15 primary and secondary public schools. They tested constantly. However, they were not focused on the love of learning or inculcating any curiosity. Count with your fingers. How many stand up presentations did you make in public school? How many classes on how to do a budget or how a bank functions? How many classic books were assigned and discussed? Were you taught how to do research in a library?

The Chiefs are trying to build the team knowing that Travis was planning on retiring in the next couple of years. So, Travis isn’t getting all of the balls directed to him so that the younger guys are getting experience. He did fine in game four against the Chargers.
