I just can't fucking understand why some countries stick to English. Maneskin literally conquered my heart by singing in Italian and then broke it by switching to English.

This year we have a lot of countries singing in their native or official language. 18 out of 37 countries have a song which is entirely or mostly in their native language (including Ireland and Great Britain where they speak English either way). That's nearly half. In the finals it gets even crazier, with only 10 songs being sung in English (excluding ire and gb). And in addition to all that, three more songs contain a smaller part in their native tongue (one of which made it to the final).

@@Sacheess Måneskins first album was in English only one Italian song. They switched to mostly Italian for their 2nd and 3rd album then swapped back to English with a few Italian songs for rush. There’s still Italian songs if you want to listen to them but it’s only natural they’d also want to sing in English sometimes considering that’s how they started

I would like each nation to be able to present a song at Eurovision that, whatever style it refers to, preserves the typical sounds of their culture, because for me that's the beauty of it. Ofcourse it is. They were living side by side in Konstantinoupoli for millenia. Great merchants. My great grandparents come from a mixed marriage of Greeks and Armenians 😊
