Hi RU-vidrs. Today I’m going to show you how you can clean your gutters without ever stepping foot on a ladder. These are the supplies that you are going to need. And the pvc alone only costs about $10 and then you’ll need a garden hose and a nozzle which will probably cost depending on the type of garden hose and nozzle another $15 or $20. But the main part of it should only set you back about $10. So here’s what you’ll need.
A hack saw to cut the pvc
The pvc glue and cleaner
Either one 10 foot ¾ inch pvc pipe or two five foot sections
Two 90 degree joints
If you choose the two five foot sections, you will need to buy a coupling
These two fittings for your hose; the male and the female
A garden nozzle such as this
And your garden hose
First I’ll cut a couple of sections off of one of my pipes a few inches long. It’s not really necessary to measure it; it’s not rocket science and pvc is very forgiving. So I’ll just cut a couple of sections. It’s always a good idea to dry fit the pvc together before you glue it down. So I’ll take the coupling and dry fit it on like this and then fit the other piece into it such as this to make one big long piece. I’ll take the elbow and put it here. I’ll take another small piece and put this here like that. Then I’ll take the other elbow and put it here. Then I’ll take this piece and put it here. And then I’ll put this piece, which will into the, actually I’ll take this piece. This piece will fit into my nozzle right here. Then I’ll dry fit the nozzle onto here. Like that. And then I’ll take this far end and I’ll put this onto here. This is where the hose will go. So now that I have it dry fit together, I’ll give it a little bit of a practice run with the water turned off and make sure it’s just the way I want it to be. Ok now I will give it a test drive before I glue everything down to make sure it’s just the way I want it to be. As you see, I can just fit it in just like that with the hose on and it will blow out all the debris and dirt from my gutter. I don’t even have to get on a ladder to do this. So that’s what I want it to be like and now I’ll glue it down. Now we’re ready to glue everything down. The glue is very smelly. I suggest you do it outside or in a very well ventilated area. And this is a two-step process. You want to clean it first and then use the adhesive. So the way you do it is you take the cleaner; take both sides and clean it on the inside and clean this. Then take the adhesive, put it on both sides and just fit it in. It dries rather quickly. And then you just do that on all the spots where the pvc meets. So both the elbows and then at my coupling down here. Ok, now I’ll just give it a few minutes to dry and then we’ll hook it up to the hose and get at it. Now the glue is all dry and we’re ready to get started. As always you want to protect your eyes. You might get a little wet also but it’s worth it if you don’t have to get on a ladder. That’s it!!
