Exquisite singing and music. No whining, winging, screeching and intolerable vocal and gestural contortions. Put simply: No unnecessary drama. Reminds me of a woman I met on a film set who invited me to accompany her to a nearby Church where she proceeded to sing a hymn in her truly angelic voice. Lasted a few minutes and then we walked back to the set. The experience has remained with me all these years. Thank you, Fil.

I don't suppose that was Clare Tory by any chance?
@pninnabokov3734
@pninnabokov3734 7 месяцев назад
@@gbsailing9436 I searched out Clare Tory and no. I do so regret not remembering her name. We were both in costume. The tintinnabulation of crystal bells. A perfectly pure voice. Simply divine. She mentioned she sang for a living. The closest comparison I can find is the Soprano Lucia Popp and her "crystalline clarity and creamy warmth." Thank you.

Vocal contortions, it's like they try to mis-pronounce every word, and the vocal calisthenics, so unnecessary except for the purpose of showing off.

KEXP has some really great live performances. The bands that play live there often sound better than they do in their album recordings thanks to great sound engineering and the stripping of all the excessive tinkering during the studio production. London Grammar is one of my favourite current groups although their music might be a bit dark for some people.

Hey Fil. While I will wholehearted agree it's a good performance from a musical standpoint, I can't say it hits me with emotion, in fact the opposite is true. I find music in this genre to be contrived and, honestly, the only emotion it evokes from me is depression (something the world is already, unfortunately, overflowing with).. I guess this type of song has it's place, but I listen to music to be uplifted and energized, for me this piece did the opposite.... I would rather crank up 'Flirtin with Disaster' by Molly Hatchet as it would empower and rejuvenate and make me feel positive and good. Love your channel Fil.

Excellent work Fil. I love LG. Hannah has such an interesting voice - which has such an interesting timber in it, sounds almost off key down low even when she is on key. I also love the character and dynamics that each member of the band brings to their songs! For example, the guitar is so minimalist most of the time, yet he seems to find a place for the instrument in every song. The keys are always on point and guide both the mood and melody much of the time. His use of the drum machine for sound effects and lighting is very creative as well. Hannah's voice is sublimely smooth, of course and very expressive. Thank you for doing this one.

It's always a pleasure and a learning experience to watch your videos and this one is no exception. I have a request: With the recent loss of Tom Smothers, many of us who grew up with the Smothers Brothers have been reminiscing by listening to the comedy and folk songs they performed back in the fifties, sixties and seventies. Too often their musical talent was overlooked while their comedy took the spotlight. As brothers, however, their harmonies were truly beautiful. I would love to see you showcase and critique them musically. Thank you!

Appreciate that you are trying to educate/help people in hearing real music . I am a big music enthusiast, but have trouble listening to new music as I feel that most of it sounds so fake or just badly recorded, especially as many music lovers have good systems that unfortunately lets your hear all the crap, that maybe was listenable in your car or your $20 earbuds. I don’t understand how record companies/ studios will feel the need to pitch correct good singers, instead they should celebrate the vocal of the artists and do their best making it sound as real as possible, when I say real I mean humanly real as that person is sounding, I feel it is respect less to manipulate a voice of a human being like that. I also think it would be nice if recording companies and artists declared on an album if there was any major alternation made too their voices so the buying public would know.

She has a beautiful, natural voice and a unique style. I don't find it to be contrived, I really enjoyed this performance! I could totally imagine this in a movie, it really has a certain vibe to it. It doesn't hit you over the head with emotion, it's more of a reflective nudge. I think there was a lot about this song and performance that was unexpected and that made it interesting. And it definitely didn't have that mechanical sound that we have come to know and hate with pitch correction!

I worry about young artists who may have terrific voices but are led to believe the only way forward is autotune or pitch correction. Does this stunt their development of their natural voices? It seems they are being led astray.

Hey Fil, Dishonest Composer did a live request for pitch corrections on his channel today and someone asked for Marc Martel’s Bohemian Rhapsody and then wouldn’t believe him when he showed it was pitch corrected. (Hit every note perfectly). Even better than Freddy haha! I requested he do a duet I saw on Vi3ion channel by Daryl and Gigi singing a Michael Jackson cover because it sounded autotuned to me. Sure enough it was so bad it sounded like AI. I also asked him to check Angelina Jordan’s Unchained Melody that she sang live a few weeks ago at the Nobel Peace Prize Awards, mainly because I wanted to see what that last note was that she hit and held so perfectly was. It was a G5. I think her lowest note was a B3 and needless to say he found no pitch correction. I’ve listened to Vanny Vabiola’s beautiful version of this song and would be interested to know if it is pitch corrected or not. I’m getting to the point that I don’t trust any singers other than Angelina of the modern day artists. I really only enjoy listening to her and Elvis in my old age lol!
