When men say that they cannot control their impulses when women dress "indecently," they insult themselves with the implication that they have no more self-control than a mere animal. It says far more about them then about the people they complain about.

Hell, they're saying they have _less_ control than animals. Depending on the species, some females can refuse a male's attentions and there's nothing he can do about it.

I am SO tired of the phrase "boys will be boys." My wife and many of her friends endured this crap from their own mothers. Unfortunately those same mothers gave an excuse for misbehavior to their sons, and in some incidents to their husbands.

Boys will be boys... Until they're taught to be gentlemen. And that's not happening enough. My dad taught me, be courteous, stand for what's right, defend those who can't, etc... I'm a skinny small guy (5'6", 120 #) and I'm tired being the one intervening, while men twice my size, just keep walking. I've never been hurt, or had to get physical, maybe cause it's amusing that the smallest guy in the room is the one to intervene, lol 😊 (and as my dad says, the bigger they are, the harder they fall, so go for the legs, lol!)

@davidrada241 I understand where you are coming from. My father tried to teach my brothers to go out & get it, just don't get caught (as in pregnancy). Yet, as a girl, I was not allowed to do a lot of things because boys were only out for one thing (sex, of course). Trying to inform him that those girls...were some other dad's daughter.....he didn't care. Luckily, our mom was a fantastic mom. Bros are still married almost 50 years later to the same educated, strong women and never took dad's advice 😊

I remember seeing a documentary about Orthodox Jews where they would make the woman in the household take a ritual bath to purify herself, and even if she was merely passing her husband the salt and he had an impure thought towards her, SHE had to go take a bath to purify HERSELF, even though he was the one who had a bad thought. Why is it that a woman trying to live a godly life doesn't matter? If a man can't control himself around a woman maybe he is the one lacking spiritual maturity. I can't control what goes on in a man's mind. That's his responsibility not mine. People who steal cars can’t blame the paint job. No one would blame a successful farmer for the actions of the poacher. Why is it only women, who sometimes experience horrible violence as a result, blamed for the actions of their attackers? Besides that, the clothes are just a convenient excuse that society will accept. It’s not like women don’t get cat called, harassed, and assaulted even when they’re dressed modestly. If we say something that implies that a man is not in total control, we’re in trouble. But this implies that men have absolutely no control over themselves and they need to be minded like children. But if we say “grow up” to a man behaving badly…Uh-oh look out! I’m getting old, but I have three teen daughters and it’s so hard not to be pessimistic and terrified for all the experiences they may have at the hands of people (other women especially) who will blame them for simply existing and getting hurt.

as a woman, i am so tired of being responsible for mens' thoughts/feelings/behavior/actions. it is something we are made aware of at a very young age, and its BS. we have to be responsible for ourselves AND all men? when do they take responsibility? we live our lives feeling like prey in a cage, and they tell us we cant hurt mens' feelings or ruin their life by reporting them, when a single choice any one of them makes can ruin ours. if that wasn't enough, some men dont even see us as humans worthy of living if we're not doing what they want. blaming it on dress is a copout. from experience, i can confirm that it does not matter. i was harrassed as much while covered up and visibly pregnant, as when i was young and showing skin. a man sexually assaulted an elderly woman in a NYC street recently. i doubt she was showing much skin. its just another way they try to make us take responsibility for their sins.

I was sexually assaulted even though I was dressed modestly and was wearing an old baggy jeans and a thick large sweater that completely covered me up. Also, my hair was thrown back in a pony tail and I had no make-up on; I looked awful that evening. Older men used to hit on me all the time back in my teens and 20's and I have always dressed modestly because sexual attention makes me feel unsafe. Men who can't control themselves around women and girls are weak. They need to work on themselves instead of telling women and girls how to dress and behave.

What it says in the Bible is that women should not dress ostentatiously, flaunting their wealth. It actually doesn't say anything about skin exposure in the New Testament. Cf. The women were all dressed as scandalously as you could imagine... But they had a race of robot player characters. The male versions were all Android like models, all steel, giant limbs, no human like characteristics at all... But the female ROBOTS still had a bust, exposed skin, female faces. I uninstalled it immediately. It wasn't because I was tempted, I was angry. Why? Why do robots need breasts? An exposed midriff? There were 4 other races of humanoids to choose from... Interestingly, in a world where no-one wears cloths temptation is much less common. It is true that men tend to be weaker when it comes to sexual attraction. This is not genetics though. The difference is societal. Men are expected to be strong, virile, "manly". Women are expected to be chaste until marriage. While that expectation may have relaxed a bit on both sides on the whole, its still the expectation in many parts of the US and around the world. Its the Pavlov's dog thing. Its not enough to tell women to wear more cloths. In the Middle East, an exposed ankle or head of hair is enough. In the stricter countries a mesh covers the eye slit of the burka lest a man should catch a glimpse of the eyes. God forbid the woman should walk in a manner that could be interpreted as "sexy".
