Funny about this performance is that previous year Gaga went all over the top (as usual), so that 2011 year all pop stars were also going over the top with their outfits and all, you know as Gaga had already lead them to... so everybody was expecting a lot from Gaga and she decides to do drag king... everybody was shocked

Little fact: gaga was in character as jo for weeks, that’s how she delivered the performance so well

Brian May actually played guitar on the studio version of this song. That's why he was part of this performance. :) Also, "Jo Calderone" character is also in the You And I music video.

All of her VMA performances are iconic! She always set the bar so high!

She has spoken about this character, and how it was based on her ex. She said it was much easier for her to perform this song as him than it ever will be for her to perform it as herself. I grew up in NY, and watched her with Lady Starlight in the clubs. She is an AMAZING human being and EVERYONE that she meets, she honestly remembers and respects.

Definitely agree with the Paparazzi VMA performance. This one really changed her career. I feel like you’d also enjoy Gaga and Metallica live at the Grammys

Back in 2013, I had tickets to see her live for the first time for my birthday. It was her Born This Way Ball tour. And then she broke her hip during a live performance of Scheiße and had to cancel the whole tour only a couple weeks before the show. I was devastated but I just wanted her to get better. Still haven’t seen her live but one day!!🤞😆
