This performance still so futuristic. She knows exactly how that costume works and she move, pose and sing at the same time and even plays piano wearing it. Gaga should recover just a single bit of that futuristic, robotic, alien like factor she had in the past cause it was so cool!
@Ozzy U I wouldn't say she is below Britney and Beyonce. She is a much more popular artist internationally considering her European background compared to Britney and Beyonce
She's so talented how can she manage to sing and play the piano and do choreography in that metal slinky while still looking hot as hell...its probably hard to not look awkward in that thing
I think this is one of the most iconic SNL performances ever. She gives you she is an awesome pop act of her generation. Then she wants to remind you she is legit an unbelievable singer. It’s truly one of a kind performance in SNL history of musical acts.
I remember watching this live, just barely knowing who she was, but knew she was huge. I'm not really into dance techno stuff. But I was just floored by her at the piano on this night. I was mesmerized.
This was the performance that made me fall in love with Gaga. I'd liked her songs and noticed her live performances, but this is the one that sold me. The command she had over the stage, the ludicrousness that she just owned without a single hint of insecurity, and Her Musicality. It was like I finally saw the perfect alchemy that happened behind the persona, and I was convinced I was watching greatness march its way into the history books. I've been with Gaga every step of the way since, and it's been the craziest, wildest, warmest, and most loving ten years.
This is the one for me too. I tell people all the time. I wasn't a dance music fan and not crazy about Just Dance... then I saw her on SNL in THIS performance and realized she was a juggernaut and she literally slapped me back and forth across the face. This was a MOMENT.
10 years later, she’s now a 9 time Grammy winner, bafta winner, and an Oscar winner. A true legend was born in 2008-2009. They just didn’t know how big she would become. So proud of her ❤️🌈😭!
She knew it all the time ! Even at the beginning of her career. She presents herself as A BIG ARTIST. The way that she were acting, the fashion, so clever !! So confident SHE BELIEVES IN HERSELF . ⚡️ LADY GAGA
I literally miss when anything/everything about her like this was so fresh and new. Always so unpredictable.. now everything is pretty ordinary but with highly amazing talent still.
True. I hate how she’s very Lady now and not Gaga. Everything she does now is predictable and basic. I miss those days when she used to shock me with outfits and performances.
Mallory Renee but her costume almost ate her. she had me as a fan until she became to gimmicky with her fashion and rode the gays for their attn and money. pre 2008 was her best time. my existence penetrates your irrelevent reality.
If you don't have even one small criticism for this performance, then you are delusional, in denial and defending her just for the sake of defending her.
I will FOREVER ALWAYS BE a lil' Monster!!! I remember being in my mid-20's when first hearing Poker Face in a local bar one Saturday night .. And now nearly 10 years later Rockin' out to Perfect Illusion & Million Reason as the Biggest fan!!!!! 💜 Lady GAGA! QUEEN!!!
Everything about this performance is perfect. At 2:57 is when I start to tear up. She reminded us that she’s still the girl who grew up in New York-even with all that fame she is still human. So proud to be a New Yorker!!!
@@TerryHarbor in Lenox Hill (a hospital in New York) in '86 (1986, the year she was born). For some reason it sounds like she said "Lenox Hill of 86," which doesn't make much sense, but it sounds good. Let me know if there are other parts I can help clarify :)
Shaina O'Neil omg thank you much I’ve been waiting for months for someone to answer my question! you’re an angel 🥺 thank u so much!! I can’t thank u enough ❤️
I enjoyed Lady Gaga's music at the time, but I didn't really understand her talent until this specific performance. She not only sat at the piano and played it effortlessly while belting out a couple of songs, but did so IN A GODDAMN GYROSCOPE COSTUME. I was blown away and became a fan of her work instantly, defending her to anyone who claimed she was yet another talentless pop star. I will always remember this performance and appreciate what Gaga has done throughout the years, from "Just Dance" to "Hold My Hand" and beyond. IMO it's one of SNL's best and most iconic musical performances.
This is why I always get annoyed when people pull the whole "OmG sHE CAn aCTualLY SiNg??" thing in more recent years 'cause she's been serving amazing vocals ever since the start and it stopped being cute a long time ago.
This is a girl doing exactly what she wants, with the skills to back it up, in extremely challenging conditions, making her dreams come true. Always inspiring is Gaga.
Everytime I've seen this woman perform I am convinced that I've just witnessed her all time best performance. I guess in a way I'm kinda right because she gets better in time. The fact that she was amazing to begin with leaves (you would think) little room for improvement but again I am proven wrong time & time again. Regardless of what you thought of artists like Michael Jackson & Prince, it goes without saying they both were amazingly multi-talented, musical geniuses. Artist that effortlessly possess these almost magical traits are few & far between. Prior to Gaga's presence I thought that no one entertainer from current times had a chance at filling their shoes. After seeing Lady Gaga give a performance such as this, once again...I was proven so very wrong. This generation...I would like to introduce you to your own musical icon, Lady Gaga.💕💟
I remember watching this and thinking she reminded me of Prince. When he played in Chicago in 1985, he did something similar. He was able to ad lib lyrics about himself and play in a variety of styles just like this.
aisha jade yes she did, Beyoncé and Riri were around way before Gaga, and though the influence on younger artists Gaga had was undeniable, Beyoncé and Riri are not in the same lanes as her. Nicki Minaj was more influenced by Gaga than them two.
Solo12313 just because an artist was around before another artist doesn’t mean they can’t take influence from them, there are plenty of examples, Beyoncé literary does it with every female artist that is popular in that moment, not to say that she’s not the most talented person ever but she does do this a lot
I love so much that she got to sing about her time in NYC as a kid, while also incorporating piano pieces she wrote in NYC, while also performing on SNL, while also being at the very start of her career, ugh
Fell in love with her during this performance🥺 have been luckily enough to see her preform 5 times and turned my mom into a major fan after she had to take me to the monster ball
So versatile and talented, stunning and sexy with a power house voice how can u not love gaga, no matter how long ago her videos are I'll keep watching..... Hail gaga
For some reason I always feel nostalgic of the fame era when those synth come in at 0:17. It's funny how I feel like that because during the fame era I was only 3😂😂.Dont get me wrong, I'm in love with all her eras, especially a Star is born is era
Iconic. The performance marked the night I became obsessed and forever a fan of hers. The ‘chops’ this woman has smh…we are all witnesses. Like a MJ 63 point performance or game 6 buzzer beater in the FINALS…this performance is cemented amongst the greats! ❤
She's the best singer out there! Just awesome as can be!! might I add she's so beautiful!! I absolutely love her and she deserves all the credit she gets
OK so I am 43, male, hetero. I listen to Tool pretty much every day. I like rock and metal and whatever. But I also really love Lady Gaga lol. I've liked her music since the Pokerface song.
I love the Boys Boys Boys instrumental at the very beginning under Gaga's lyrics "Iet's have some fun this beat is sick I wanna take a ride on your disco stick"
Woah!!! I've never seen this performance. Shes was so entertaining. She's got it all. Lol did y'all notice when the orb hit her in the head in the beginning.
