Lady Gaga And Yoko Ono perform an amazing piano blues jam with Yoko's Plastic Ono Band at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Los Angeles on October 2, 2010.
Justin Taylor I think many of us are overwhelmed with pop celebrity as it distracts the population from what is more important. She's quite young to be a global sensation. She is using her notoriety toward social change, which I do respect. However, I do reserve the right to appreciate the person and not the product.
plant1deep4u2 That was probably the most respectable answer I've ever received on RU-vid. Props to you for being rational and educated with your words. I agree, but I think it's primarily the fault of the US media. They don't really understand how to separate entertainment and cultural/economic/political news.
"aaaaahhhhhoooooo...AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...agggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." I think we can all relate to these lyrics at some point in our life.
Courtney x To funny. I think my moment of relating was back in the late 70s when I tried PCP and these Lyrics were all that I could say or hear. Then as now I just wanted it to stop
I don't know about you but I do feel that inspite of all the theatricities, Lady Gaga is a pretty good singer, as this video clearly demonstrates. Yoko on the other hand sounds like a ... Yoko? I doubt any other living being makes a noise which is similar to her uh..singing.
Lady Gaga was killing it! She slayed that crowd haha Yoko Ono on the other hand sounded like she was literally dying on stage from a ruptured appendix or something.
This is brilliant, a song about pain. And Yoko has been through more pain and heartache than anyone could imagine, she is getting old and tired and she expresses that through her vocals. It's 100% genuine, big respect to both performers ^^
Corey Gallagher If you did some research you'll find that she is an artist and one of the most influential Japanese women of that time. And still going strong at 80 years. I respect that, and so does Gaga ^^
ha! Funny you mention goats! In Gaga's video Born This Way she says "On G.O.A.T.-- a Government Owned Alien Territory in space..." baaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAA hehehe
To all of the people giving such negative points about this performance: Have you never heard of the words "feeling" and "emotion"? This is a brilliant piece of music. My estimation of Lady Ga Ga goes up hundredfold after seeing this. She doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to and she must have wanted to do this because she values Yoko as an artist and as an emotive singer. Yoko was only ever about emotion and feeling - however that is expressed. Wake up and hear and feel the music!!!
For anyone that likes this, may I suggest booking me for a performance. For $1,000,000 I will make goat noises on stage for an hour. I can also do donkey noises but that's an extra $500,000. Certainly make your party or whatever an event to remember.
WOW, I'm, one of those old baby boomers who don't think there is new talent... Lady Gaga is one, she is great! Took my daughter to see the last show of her tour and I went with the idea to stay at the bar, but I watched the entire show, she is amazing
Thank God! I always thought I didn't have any talent. Now, after listening to Yoko Ono, I know I can make it big time. I make these screeching disgusting noises all the time and never did know I could go anywhere with it. Thanks so much Yoko!
I love this performance from both Gaga and Yoko, gives them both a lot of cred in my opinion. And for those who don't know anything about Yoko, take a look at her work where she is not screaming (I understand the criticism of her screaming). Approximately Infinite Universe got me through high school.
i came here to laugh and enjoy yoko... i'm very impressed by gaga.. not a fan, but she got the spirit of yoko's awesomeness...this is a lovely context with the blues... the two of them need to do an album together. i'd buy it..... TWICE. (and you gotta love the hat)
This is actually f*cking quality.. the band.. Gaga’s piano playing and vocals.. it wouldn’t actually be the same without Yokos vocals either. It’s brilliant, and the fact that Gaga takes on Yokos style in the end and nails it… get with it people
What real deal? The only thing she is good at is visual art from a uber modernist perspective--but musically--hell no! Just because you marry a singer does not give you his/hers' gifts
+Ced Cole please...the hack of art more likely...never could stand her version of avant garde and those alike her. really the death of art in utmost meaning of the sentences
Great vocals by Gaga and quality playing on the piano, also nice to see Sean Lennon rocking the bass in the background, playing along with his Mum on stage. Amazing guitar solo too!
Why is everyone making fun of the song in the comments? Like if y'all don't like the music why are watching the video? Anywho loved this performance with Gaga and Yoko 🥰🥰💕💕
When Lady Gaga focuses her music at the piano (and plays genres like jazz, blues, rock, or just one of her pop songs acoustically), she SHINES. I absolutely love her when it's just her at the piano. Not a fan of Yoko Ono though. Meh.
I always new that Yoko was talented I saw her and John a special time in my life I just got back from a bad trip and she was much younger then a real doll she done this Japanese chanting about ten minutes I'm imbaresd to say this ,it was such a chant so relaxing I lost control to my bowls and I shit myself when she started this high pitch I relieved myself ,my girl friend I'll never forget it she held me I've been with her ever since am I ever a Yoko fan thanks Yoko love hermie
Awesome blues Lady Gaga. I love your music. I guess she was showing Yoko Ono respect. She had been using John Lennon's white piano in some of her shows and maybe this is her way of saying, "Thank You" to her. Also, she may be a lover of Yoko's advant-garde style. I must say the video was pretty good.
Yoko's art is Haute-Couture - that only her most devoted fans can understand. I admire her for having the courage to get up on a big stage and perform a piece like this - for me it's the equivalent of getting up on the stage naked.
One of the most significant avant garde artists of the 20th century. Gaga knows she is. Zappa knew she was. And what the moronic, uneducated general public understands, or doesn't understand is never surprising to me.
+Jim Cim She is as talented as a brick and you call public moronic? I think it's ok that people recognize it's shit. Just imagine how many talented and really creative artists don't get an opportunity to get on scene in front of such audience alongside with a famous singer? Pathetic.
Please. The noise she's making would get anyone else kicked off the fucking stage. The only reason anyone gives a shit about her is due to her connection to Lennon.
Thing to remember with Yoko is that she is, and always has been, a "performance artist ".. She has done many elaborate works of art with and without music.
If someone could link me to Yoko ACTUALLY singing or ACTUALLY playing an instrument I'd love that. I had a professor in college tell me something interesting, that in order for an artist to be vetted they needed to prove they could do what the artists before them did, be it painting or playing an instrument, like many rock and roll legends are well versed in classical piano etc. I'm curious to see if Yoko has any real talent or if she's just always been a crazy fuck that screams like a dying dog.
Multiple live performances of her and John where she plays the piano, and a huge back catalogue of albums of her singing. Feeling the Space, Approximately Infinite Universe, Rising, Between My Head and the Sky...
Yoko Ono is a very structured artist, she doesn't really let loose much but when it comes to music, she knows it better than anyone. Knowledge of music is also why I can respect Gaga as well. They both know so much, enough to do their own things and decide what they as artists want to do without worrying about what the public may think or how popular it would be.
+Sven van Veggel You clearly don't understand Yoko's style, genre or what she represents. She is an older woman, an icon, an artist. You don't have to like her or even be willing to understand her, but, please, show some respect. How can you make such a hideous comment. What did your mother teach you?
+day light You clearly don't understand Sven's style, genre or what he comments. He is a young man, an icon, an artist. You don't have to like him or even be willing to understand him, but, please, show some respect. How can you make such a hideous comment. What did your mother teach you?
2 remarkable women together making amazing music. ❤❤ Great band! Never been anyone in all of music performance history like Gaga able to sing and play everything from blues to rock to jazz to electropop to power ballads to Sound of Music etc etc
YOKO ONO DID NOT EVEN NEED WORDS TO SING THIS SONG!! They say good art comes straight from raw human emotion.. Yoko Ono was singing in a way unencumbered by language!! Lady Gaga was awesome, as usual.. Perfect jam... woooohooo!!
