Tried a recipe from the UK and it actually called for spices but somehow that stuff made the spices bland. And I used seasoned smoked andouille sausage in it. It magically sucked the flavor out and spat it god knows where because it sure as hell wasn't in the rest of the food.
Also as a white american, my not white friend has occasionally heard about food items I unironically eat and looked mortified. Examples include oatmeal, ground chicken, and apples. (I have quit eating ground chicken though since everyone said it's disgusting)

The whole “Africa being a country” thing is a conversation I’ve had with someone before. I mentioned I’d been to Africa a couple of times for family holidays. Egypt being 1 of the places we’d been to. I was asked if I was stupid as Egypt and Africa are separate countries, and that I should study a map once in a while, especially if I’m visiting those places 🤦♀️. As an African this was actually really funny to me, she’s not wearing the headscarf right at all and it’s not authentic cultural clothing. It’s literally just cheetah prints….Peanut butter is made differently almost everywhere and we don’t normally make the “American” version. We also don’t eat with with actual bread sometimes and mix it into our food for flavour. The fact that those animals are in like deserts, grasslands and zoos. 😂 The most you’ll see is a lamb roaming the streets or a mouse.

As an Indigenous American, I was torn between cringing SO hard I died and being angered by her cosplaying as one of us. I ended up stuck cringing for a good long while. Her impersonations of other races were equally cringe. Thank you for both calling her out on her antics AND doing so in a way that let me laugh myself free of the cringe I was stuck in.

We have big malls, cars and houses and no animals don't roam the streets unless they escape from the nature reserves 😅. We do also have poverty and crime but I love my country . As a white person who got to have shitty home cooked food, then spent my teen years mainly around the black and mexican community being raised and taught how to cook by them, I can confirm other than jewish cooking, I had never tasted heaven like I had with black and mexican foods .

I was curious to look at what is "Jewish " food since I’ve never heard of such a thing… and for good reason, all the plates on the list but one are originated from North Africa, Persia, Lebanon. They use it for certain Jewish festivities but their origins aren’t from Jewish people or from the ancient provinces like judea. Seeing falafels on the list is hilarious, since it was discovered in ancient Egypt. Some Jewish people like to steal what’s not theirs , nowadays huh ;)
