Very well played. Put more on RU-vid please. Reminds me of the days when going to a ball game or the movies actually had an organist and I am not that old. Great job.....fun to hear this again.
Here's something I found, from the Johnstown paper website, relating to the song played at War Memorial during Chiefs games: ...Those energetic and often rowdy crowds interacted with Oswald. His rendition of Lady of Spain, made famous in Slap Shot, always drew a loud chant from Section 21: Dont ever play Lady of Spain again, a la Paul Newmans Reg Dunlop character in the movie. Of course, those in Section 10 back then used to respond with their own chant: Section 21 (stinks).
Again a story of a misspent youth. I don't think I ever attended a skating rink [rollers, no ice down our way] that did not consider this version of Lady of Spain as a staple. You would hear it every time and if you were around the rink for very long you were likely to hear more than once. I know some people got tired of it, but I still love this old chestnut,
Problem is, hockey arena organ players will play Lady of Spain again, and again, and again now that Ol'Reg passed away!!! When you go to heaven, let'em know you're there and show'em what you got!!! Chiefs #7, may the good lord bless your soul.
The first cut on Don Baker Curtain Time is Lady of Spain. I uploaded it and added it as a video response to your video. I've been playing my old Gulbransen G3 a lot lately. It's has a very hollow wooden sound like a real Wurlitzer's tibia. The G3 is from 61' and it is only tibia, but has combination tabs for diapason, clarinet, oboe, and glock which are made up from relays engaging some of the existing tibia footages ( usually 3)- 16',8',4',2', 2 2/3', and 1 3/5'. Has built in 12'' Leslie drum.
You should have scrolled below for other comments... french voice of Reggie passed away 2 weeks ago, and I still hear him say, en français: joue jamais pus c't'hostie d'chanson à marde, câlisse! Crisse de niaiseux... Still the organ players play it again, and again, and again... in honor of those who had Reg's voice in the greatest movie! Anyone know if the spanish voice of reggie is still alive?
This is very well-played! You're doing a lot of pretty technically difficult things, and doing them quite well! Holding great timing, and meter, no stumbling, it's very, very nice playing! Have you ever tried your hand at a real Theatre Pipe Organ?
I don't like this song, or even organs, but wow, nice job!!! I do appreciate the talent and dicipline it took to do this, very very nice job. Come to Buffalo and play our MIghty Wurlitezer at HSBC arena at a hockey game, there are only a few left. The hockey world Jr's are here now, wish you could play for us.
Oh yeah? Nah! The organ players are still playing that f**king song again! Now this comment does capture the spirit of the thing, viewers should have scrolled down below and read comments when Reg passed away. And I'm still paying the ambulance driver to circle around the rink and ring the darn siren!!!
Why playing this song must cross your hand?? If want to make it abit special better sit on the oposite side of the organ to play the song. Can play? If can then u are good
