Documentary about the private road Lady Wimborne had built from Canford Manor to Bournemouth. Filmed as a bike ride from where the road started on the border of Poole and Bournemouth, to the gates of what used to be Canford Manor. Looking back on the history of the road, Canford estate and Lord and Lady Wimborne.
This is an updated version with some corrections and new information people have sent in.

i remember the bridge on Ringwood rd but not the one on Magna road ...ive lived here for 60 years ..cant belive id never ridden most of this ride ..thanks for showing me ..if its not raining maybe ill do it over the next week

David, I did this ride today from Verwood along the Castlemen to Wimborne then along the original route to Canford House and onto the “Driveway” through to Belban road in Wallisdown. Wonderful route! Thank you for the route and history it was great ride of approx37 miles door to door. I will be riding some of your other routes soon. Keep up the good work, the history is fascinating! 👍

When I lived in Newtown I had a girlfriend in Merley, and I'd use the road over Canford Heath as a short cut. I remember both bridges and once or twice climbed up and over the Ringwood Road one.
