Joseph and Ladysmith Black Mombazo are larger than life. My respects from Chicago. I just found out that Joseph has gone to heaven. I hope to hear them in heaven some day. I picked up one of their albums 25 years ago and I figured out they are going to be big. After I played their music for my classes and the children loved there songs. They got Grammy nominated and became Grammy winners. Your music lives on brother. Great music is eternal. Love and peace to all who listen to Ladysmith Black Mombazo.
✊🏽 respect…the moon is dancing was my introduction to this group when I was 8…nothing but respect for this group..I’ve sang Acapella all of my life and I have to say that brotha Joseph and this group helped create that much more passion of acapella within me…I hope you and Michael J are dancing on the moon together. Peace sir
Watching the funeral of the great Shabalala, for the first time, and I'm struggling to hold back the tears. Gone is the great and unpretentious musical voice of Africa. You have left a void in the musical world that would be hard to fill. RIP, Sir.
Such a beautiful tribute to a man that influenced myself, a Samoan New Zealander and many many more the world over. Ia mauia lau malaga Joseph Shabalala. - Ez
Thank you for your warm words of support. Through music, we are made one. That is the Ubuntu, the essence of humanity that gives us our human face. 🎼🇿🇦🔥🔥❤️
This group gives me so much joy, peace and even healing whenever I listen to their music. Since 1987 with Mariam Makeba in concert. My best forever. 💖💖💖💖😍😍 Rest in peace Sir Joseph Shabalala. I am a Nigeria.

What a Befitting and an Amazing send off for BABA SHABALALA may his soul rest in peace proudly South African all the way from Ireland 🇿🇦❤ Ndiyazingca ngo Mzantsi
I didn't manage to reach his funeral and I've playing his music from last night till now, it's about to be 24hrs playing the music as a way of mourning and commemorating him.May his soul get eternal rest in GOD'S HANDS and his legacy be kept till the return of CHRIST, amen!
He lived by Music and 'left by Music', a fitting tribute to one of Africa's greatest sons. Joseph Shabalala put Africa (not just South Africa) on the World Map. Singing on such a sad day, turned a sad day into a celebration of Joseph's life, nice to see the President (Cyril doing the Mambazo dance).
Music indeed can heal broken hearts and troubled soul... I'm deeply touch by the performance... You're real therapists... Long live Ladysmith Black Mambazo that was great sendoff your father deserve. REST IN ETERNAL PEACE DR. TSHABALALA.
Most moving, beautiful, and meaningful funeral service I have ever seen. What a testament to the genius of Joseph Shabalala and Zulu music, to the beauty of LBM's work -- and to the healing wisdom of African music.
We had the honor and pleasure of seeing Ladysmith Black Mambazo on February 16th in Healdsburg CA just a few days after the death of Joseph Shabalala. The spirit and beauty in their voices was miraculous. I was changed by their performance. Truly the most inspiring, perfection of men in majestic harmonies and movement. I will never forget their love and admiration for their father and founder of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. My Joseph Shabalala always rest in peace and praise.
I'm from America and remember this group coming to The Heritage Festival as youngin. And every since then I was amazed with their voices. Rest well Joseph.😔😇
Truly a sad day for the music world..... the world is a lesser place. Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Joseph let the world hear the amazing harmonies and music of South Africa. May the Peace and Grace be with him.... his legacy is the amazing music library he leaves behind with us.
The last dirge they are singing in this video clip, from the 17th minute onwards in the Xhosa language, is very nostalgic and traditionally magnetic in a sense of the word and African spirit.
My heart is heavy, as I was not aware of this. the tears I shed today are for the love and joy he shared with me... Although I never met him in the flesh he has touched me deeply.
Man, one of the most distinctive and smoothest voices ever. Thanks to his having shared his talent with the world. His son sounds astoundingly close to him. I love that the gathered participated and enjoyed the music he and the rest of the group brought to the world.
I'm in tears... Never aware of the demise of the leader of this great heavenly voices. As a Nigerian who doesn't understand or even seen ur group in real life but the melodies always put some unexplainable tears of joy in me. I love u guys and once more I say to ur lovely leader in igbo language "Mkpuru obigi la ndukwa"😥
Legends and heroes always go away fast but the sound of their music will always play in our minds, , may ur soul rest in peace Mr Shabalala,, we love you
Bless his family and friends. Rest in Peace to the founder of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a powerful group that always chopped down the house as if an axe.
