Zerthimon, the namesake of the githzerai, was struck down by Gith, because he refused to engage in slavery and conquest. He argued the gith were becoming like the illithid. I dunno if this is canon anymore since it's from like 3rd edition.
The fact that Lae'zel specifically references the Pronouncement of Two Skies (the event you mention) in describing the Githzerai in one of her endings suggests that at least Larian considered it canonical.
From what I recall, each new edition added to the lore, rather than retconning anything. But I'm not as well-versed in the lore as a lot of others seem to be.
I found it on my first playthrough but it was completely bugged, when I clicked on the head there was no dialogue but the subtitles for the first line were there and it was just stuck on that.
@@PinkPixelBunny especially since on the list of suggested traits for them is "I believe the Githzerai and Githyanki will align to rule the multiverse" you can literally have a character that wants to reunite the two races!! Also I just realized the difference is essentially Romulans vs Vulcans
Even though they're treated as separate entities by the rulebook there's hardly any racial differences between them. The general race should just be Gith with Githyanki and Githzerai as subraces.
Damn, I had this interaction in 3 playthroughs, but I never passed (or even noticed) that wisdom check. I had no idea the githzerai wasn't telling the full truth.
I was having fun talking to all of these things and then I talked to the fresh mind and said holy fucking shit holy shit holy shit talking to brains isn't fun anymore.
And here I was thinking the Githzerai didn’t exist in this game as not to confuse players. For some reason I thought Orpheus and his followers were supposed to be Githzerai but maybe I was misremembering.
I was under the impression that the Githyanki and Githzerai hated each other, but hated Mind Flayers worse and would set aside their differences to fight them.
@@stephenwilliams203 they do, but they still go on with hating each other. I believe some of them don’t hate each other, but you know, too taboo to work with each other. But there might be a change revealed when you get Lae’zel to fight against Vlaakith.
This is a pretty niche encounter. You have to bring brain jars from the map to this location. It's not surprising you didn't see it, because there's not a lot telling you how to achieve this.
You can to bring the brain jars from the very beginning, too. From the tutorial on that ship. And take a few around that mind flayer hive where you fight Ketheric, this console to interface with the brains is also there. But make sure you bring all the brains before confronting Ketheric, after you go after him into the hive, it will be a combat zone where you can't rest or go back to the camp to pick up extra stuff.
There is also a head that sings. Although I forgot to carry the brains you could collect from the ship at the beginning of the game so I don't know what those would say :(
She'll grant you the Githzerai Mind Buff. This gives your character a permanent Advantage on Intelligence saving throws. There’s no difference I believe.
Both options give you the buff but 1 is merciful and the other is cruel so it’s more about the companion approval. Considering she sold out her entire temple for safety you decide what she deserves
Technical gameplay speaking, there’s no difference between the two options as you still get the same buff anyways, but I assume the consume option allows you to not only absorb her power but also her memories meaning her guilt and anguish do not go away but continue to live on in your tadpole, considering the extreme psionic control the githerzai possesses she basically still lives in your head, whereas the purge option frees her so it’s more merciful
Yeah, it's a different severed head attached to a machine that connects to preserved brain jars. Gortash made it to let non-psionics talk to the brains.
Many people don't fully explore the area before you meet Ketheric for the final face-off it seems. I do hope you at least saved the people/Mizora in the pods.
Mind flayer colony. You need to complete the brain puzzle in the back and you'll find the brain locked in a jar. Put it on this thing and you'll be able to talk to her.
@kingskelett6265 Gortash is a clever fellow, for sure. Don't forget how the Iron Watchers work. Zombie body in a little mecha, and the brain is in a jar in the foundry with a tadpole in it. Combination of psionics, necromancy, and engineering. The carefully removed brain still maintains a connection to the body.
You’re speaking to the gith’s mind, the elf head is just a conduit. The elf head is part of a machine which can let other minds possess and speak through it.
