An in house visit to Los Angeles Fire Department Station 27 in Hollywood and an equipment look & inside look of USAR 27. Station 27 houses Task Force 27, Battalion 5, Rescue 27, Rescue 827, Rescue 927, USAR 27& Rescue 627 (reserve).
Awesome; and awesome catch of the hose tower. At 1:16, next to the silver Jeep & ambulance, was the red box an emergency phone, fire alarm, or extinguisher?
LAFD have USAR trucks. Are these trucks staffed with full-time firefighters? If not, how do they assign firefighters on the USAR trucks? I know that USAR responds to confined space rescue, vehicle accident and rope rescue. Do USAR firefighters respond to fire incidents? For example, structure fire?
I’ve done it, if I were you I would do it after COVID. But they are all great guys from my experience and most of them seem to enjoy showing the public around the rigs. Bring a few good questions and if you feeling kind bring cookies and it’ll be awesome.
