I made this in celebration of my recent completion of the Triple Crown of Hiking. Throughout the last leg of these journeys, the entire oeuvre of inabakumori provided the energy I needed to power up those steep mountains.
I think it's very funny that the lyrics of Lagtrain are about missing a train and having to walk miles across the city as a metaphor for depression, but the context of this video completely axes the depression metaphor and makes it literally about a walk that's too long to take on foot.
I've been thinking about this, and I've decided it's not true. While it seems like making a crossover of two specific interest groups only targets those in the middle of the venn diagram, what it seems like in practice is that it actually hits the entire venn diagram--union, not intersection.
@@quintopia It was my first exposition to both inabakumori and long distance hiking, and at least one of those caught my interest so either it hits all fields of the venn diagram, or we need to add a third set to it.
@@quintopiait's more like you making lagtrain fans discover hiking and hikers discover lagtrain, then there's the tiny bit of very happy lagtrain loving hiker seeing this
Not only this informed me about existence of long distance hiking culture which i didnt know about, but it also: - has a narrative - meshes well with the reference. The hitchiking thumb pose, as well the trail plaques/emblem/signs bit were clever. Replacing the chickens with plastic bags of trash and empty trail mix -real world memories -endearing message at the end -vibe of "videos i found on NicoNicoDouga in 2010" -looping narrative -10k views (which is alot in 2008, reinforcing the vibe)
>smiles because its fun >Eyes describe torture You just described the entirety of long distance hiking. Its fun and rewarding but its brutal on ones body and mind
The innate human instinct to wander and stay on the move. Our ancestors where nomads, this settling down in one place for the rest off our life goes against our instinctual needs.
@@tikimillie plus if you think about it, the main reason we have our brain is for movement; to produce the appropriate movements in response to stimulus. so it shouldn't come as a surprise as to why movement is good for the brain. of course the brain is for thinking, but what thinking is for is essentially just planning movement. thinking of what you're gonna say? you're thinking of how you're gonna move your vocal cords and mouth.
nearly burst into tears at 3:52 where you THINK "oh FINALLY hes gonna get his ride" but then the driver leaves. very whelming narrative wish i had seen this sooner
I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail this past year and had some amazing hitches from the most wonderful people. There was an older woman that picked up me and three other smelly-ass dudes from Newfound Gap in the Smokies, drove us more than an hour into town, waited for us to resupply at the grocery store, bought us all McDonald's, then drove us all the way back to trail. Some people are truly too good for this world, and she was certainly not alone in her generosity.
This is incredible! I love the difference in theme. I usually am very strict when it comes to recreating a piece so theme isn't something I've thought of deviating from. Maybe I'll start to try now! Using the trail signs for arrows was really creative. At the end with the car I was so invested for her to give you a ride. 10/10 story And the mustache? Very unique. I have a handle bar mustache myself but not nearly are curled. Thank you for taking interest in my video and trying it for yourself!
Why is this at the top of my recommended screen one year after it was uploaded? RU-vid better blow up this video or i’ll be disappointed because every seemingly random recommendation i’ve gotten in the past half year has gone viral within a few days afterwards! Best be 100k views by next month lmao 😂
For some reason I thought that vocaloid and japanese music was something only appreciated by the younger generations.. It's nice to see inabakumori appreciators in all shapes and sizes 😂
Not gonna lie, based on your appearance as a hiker, I wouldn't have thought this would be your kind of music at all, and it kinda makes this incredible recreation that much better! 😂
'lagtrain but long distance hitchhiking' sounds oddly specific but every scene is so delicately placed and its so natural doesnt matter if its been a year, i found gold
This video randomly popping up in my feed was an unexpected, yet absolutely stellar treat to see. I love how much effort you put into this video! PS: Love the moustache
Aww, dk why, but it looks so cute for me, "dirty smelly stranger" tries to dance like a smol 2d girl with a smile that makes you knoq he's really enjoying doing it.
This is awesome, I am really happy to see such a funny yet fitting twist of Lagtrain, I really love the video! It's absolutely ridiculous in my mind to hear about someone who managed to hike 7.8 thousand miles throughout the states, huge congratulations on that! I hope the kind of passion and energy that helped you on this achievement will stay with you for a long time. Best of wishes from across the pond.
Since you took the time to write such a long comment, you earn a factoid: the opening shots were my actual last morning before finishing the PCT, my last tent packing on the PCT, and the road I finished at.
Y'know I have no idea why this was recommended to me some time ago, being someone who does not hitch hike, nor has really ever gotten into Vocaloid, but I gotta give thanks to this video for introducing me to Inabakumori.
no clue why this was in my recommended (prolly cause I watch lag train alot idk. I know I don't watch hitchhikers though) but I'm glad it was cause it gave me a nice chuckle
Not to be specific but this looks like a video for a school project I'd make without taking it seriously and then I accidentally get an A (good job man I love it)
As a short distance hiker who loves Vocaloid, thank you for this beautiful piece of art. I played it for my family, and I loved it the most. My brother, sister, and dad probably related to the snack bag bit the most.
Once I had a trip to a little distant town with my friends who did hitching for a while, and it was amazing. My mother was furious when she discovered it but I want so much to go somewhere hitchhiking once more!
If only more PSA's came with BANGERS like this one. This whole video is honestly very well put-together; I like how the "angels" are incorporated, and the poses from the original are converted to this version quite nicely. In the rare case that I ever drive by a hitch-hiker, I'll remember your inspiring words from the end of this masterpiece!!!
I love a video like this every once in a while. I could literally feel the smile on my face while watching and it never faded until the end. This is why I spend money on internet.
This video is so amazing. You can just feel the passion coming off of it. I have no idea how the concept of the video happened, or why it's constructed so accurately but I love it! Good job ❤
