This video features some major updates at LaGuardia Airport's C Terminal, home of Delta Air Lines. Since my last update, the "old new" western concourse is now open in addition to a grand entrance to another new concourse. And, sadly, the old D Terminal is no longer operational. See it all here.

LGA has gone through a HUGE transformation and overhaul. I flew there back in March of this year on Southwest Airlines and was AMAZED at how much better and different it really is. My family and I agreed that it looks like a shopping mall that happens to be an airport. The last time I flew through LGA was in the 1990's and it looked like it would fall apart with a stiff breeze. What a HUGE improvement

The last time I flew through LGA, I thought I would have a heart attack changing planes. I must have walked two miles with only 40 minutes to connect.

The reason why Delta kept the old terminal and refurbished it to save money. Delta is paying 100% for their construction as part of the agreement in NYC, and it is $4 billion. In contrast, the new Terminal B paid for by NY Port Authority cost $5.1 billion. Delta saved approximately $1 billion dollars by reusing the old terminal and not building a brand new one where Terminal C built by US Airways. Last time I was in Terminal D was in 2022. Ever since then I have always by chance put either in the renovated part of Terminal C (most recently this past April with half of it open) or the new parts of the terminal. Terminal B I was in last December and because they spent a lot more public money on that one, is nicer. Delta's is still very nice and functional.

Isn’t it amazing what little you get for $5.1 Billion USD. Must have had allot of overtime for the NY/NJ Port Authority and construction workers as there is not much there.

@@alyonapetrova694 I believe the extra billion comes from the overpass over the airplanes in Terminal B - as they wanted to have more gates closer to the size of Terminal C without taking up more apron space. Also the waterfall from the ceiling which is nice but adds no value.

It's called the Private sector vs Government, the Government has no concept on how to save money. Look at what you get by saving a billion dollars, practically the same thing and you'll barely notice a difference

@@jcspotter7322 True. The only extra thing that has limiited value is they crammed more gates in (two more) with the overpass built from the front of the terminal to the back so planes fit under it (and they squeezed 2 more gates in). Was it worth it? I agree with you - probably not.

I flew out of gate 63 yesterday and back in to 69 this morning. Can’t wait to for them to finish the real walkway and get rid of the temporary one. I did not notice that the 80s concourse direct access was open. Great news, it was so much walking before to get to those gates.

As a kid my dad used to bring me to LGA to watch planes take off. As much as the old LGA was hated, it was a nostalgic part of my childhood and love for aviation and I'm one of the few who will miss it. Love that they kept some of the old US Airways terminal as it's actually a well designed building and was very forward thinking given it was built in the early 90's.

I also think they kept the gate that was used in the movie "sully" and maybe the actual gate for flight 1549. I am not sure if they used the same gate from the movie as they did when it actually took place.

Nice update! A lot of progress. Nice to see the old terminal C concourse get refurbished, I always liked that part of the airport. Also at 8:03, to think in the past the only way to get that view was from an airplane cockpit.

I remembered stepping into LGA the first time as this was aft they refurbished. It was gorgeous and that explains why LGA jumped the rank in airport Ranking.

Went out of Terminal C once - 1998 or so, USAir Shuttle 727 to Washington Raegan, with a connecting USAir Express flight to Norfolk, VA (To date my only time on a DeHavilland Dash-8)... on the return trip, I remember seeing an aircraft in this odd USAir/US Airways hybrid livery (with bare metal livery, USAir stripes (but with the blue replaced with black), and US Airways tail logo design. The terminal itself I remember for having the skylights and being really open and bright feeling, I really liked it. Glad it's still living on, being one of the very few terminals from the old LGA that wasn't a dump and a half. (The other nice terminal, IMO, being Terminal A / the Marine Air Terminal).

What about the connecting hallway between Terminal C and Terminal B. As I recall both of thes eterminals are to be connected via a (long) open passageway. Is that being built?

There really is no usual length of a wait time since it depends of multiple factors. The time of the day is an important factor since there are times when there are more departing flights than others. However, an irregular operation can shift a mass depature push to a different time later in the day, prompting passengers to arrive at the airport later, thus lengthing the queue. In addition to the time of day, TSA wait times will be different for different kids of passengers. For example, if you are a CLEAR member, the line should move quicker but sometimes it doesn't. There's also a line for TSA Precheck members. And some people have both. I have both and have never waited more than 8 minutes. There is also a SKY PRIORITY line which generally has less people on it. And there is even a separate line for families with children in strollers that moves really fast all the time since this is typically a very small group. Passengers being pushed in wheelchairs always get pushed to the front of the line category that they belong to. Now, on top of all of this there is the "regular" TSA line which sometimes can be shorter or longer than the other lines. It really depends on the demand by the minute. RIP Terminal D, the old food court, and the bus rides to Terminal D, its looks like a ghost town. I still remember how nice Terminal D looked on the inside. Its nice to see LGA construction getting closer and closer to completing its new terminals though.

I never minded the old terminal C at LGA. I always thought it was the nicest one of the 4 that existed back in the day when it was the US Airways terminal.

We were just there over the Memorial Day weekend. I was amazed at the difference! Try the chicken sandwich at Bubby's. Best I've ever had!

@@PeterMasella my mother had a wheelchair and the wheelchair assistance lady was saying that it opened that day (yesterday) and that it was her first time walking through it and she said that it is so much easier to push without carpet

I'm no longer encouraged to spend more money since the thresholds are too high. As a result, I spend less money than ever by looking for the cheapest Delta fare.

It bears repeating how Delta has made it more difficult to achieve status. That's what you get for your loyalty. Unfortunately Delta, always the innovator at taking away perks, is always then followed by AA.
