Another awesome route and quality video mate but my god there was some scary bits in there! Then at the end you said it was easy but long 😲 i think we're at different levels 😂
It flows much better after a dry spell, we do it as an 8 out to the Blencathra centre then back via Glenda. You did right on the crags, I never ride them when it's wet serious consequences for an off.
Quality video, the kind of ride I want to do now I've practised at Leeds Urban for a bit after a 20 year break from bikes. Need to find someone willing to come with because solo I think would be a real bad idea... especially since I tend to aim for gnarly stuff by default 😁
This is the route I should of done last week. I took the direct route up Skiddaw from where you veered right into the gully. It was a push ALL the way up for most of it (80%). I made it to nearly the summit and my bloody rear derailleur hanger snapped 😵.. Luckily I had a chain tool so removed the derailleur and free wheeled most of the way down the route I had come up. But it was so dry and loose in places which made it nigh on impossible to stay on. Next time I will follow this route. Cheers Andy. Great videos and bike 👌🏻🤙🏻
A shorter version is starting at the bottom of Dash Falls and looping around... As it's at the start it makes the Dash Falls climb a bit more manageable to clean. Great ride with a real out in the wilderness feeling... even the road sections are generally fun and quiet. I've ridden it in reverse (Clockwise) and it's not fun... especially back up from Mosdale to Skiddaw House. Your Hobcarton Video.. I wouldn't have gone up in the wind.... If it's windy at the top of the South then it can be pretty severe up the top.
Really enjoyed that! Last time i rode that, i started from mosedale on my old orange five, must have been 2009! If i ever get back up there it will most likely be on a ebike lol 🤣
Nailed it again Andy, mint footage and love the fist bombs 😆 stunning scenery as well, after getting you to tell me about your frame bag I’ve discovered that the Blackburn bag won’t fit into my frame, there’s hardly any space in between my top tube and battery tube on my bike so it looks like I’m gonna have no choice and have a back pack ☹️
Trail-Finder looked at it? I’ve never even heard of it let alone looked at it 😆 where do they get the names from I wonder, cheers Andy I’ll have a butchers now, I never wanted a back pack and the thoughts of wearing one when it’s hot does nothing for me what so ever either.
Trail-Finder got home from work tonight and my lovely wife has bought me a camelbak mule back pack, if I take just the necessities I think I should be ok with it 👍I couldn’t find a bag to fit my frame so it’s just as well she bought it for me
been watching, and saving to strava the routes, did one today. you called it best natural ride you done. its was a good ride. i got a canyon e-bike but it was a good work out especially the part when you start pulling away from windermere at the south end. i`m gona do lots more over the months. with all these trails you do are they one way or is it a dual carriage way, i expect some are as good in reverse. some of the up peddeling today would be amazing downs. are we allowed to ride em as we like(in reverse), i don`t want to cause an accident or conflict. thanks for the strava info they look really good rides. gona give lots of rides in coming months.
Hi Neil yes every ride I do that is not at a trail centre can be done either direction as they are just bridleways. Once I get an ebike I will be doing all these in reverse
You can go to the summit from Skiddaw house. There is a path up to the right hand side. As far as I know it's only on wainwright maps and not OS. It's more rideavle than the tourist path from latrigg
@@TrailFinder it's just a grassy path. It's still very steep. But not quite as steep or loose as the usual route up. I have the gpx on my Strava from 2016 somewhere
