Thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed your walk. I can still remember the first time I took the route that you took, almost 50 years ago, and every time I set foot on the fells there I am reminded of that first time. It seemed to be such a perfect day.
Thank you for this. That was a splendid walk, and you showed me a way I hadn't known. We generally stay in a Holiday Cottage at the foot of Todd Crag and go up to Loughrigg from there. I'd always wondered where the other tracks from Todd led. And now I know. Thanks again. Bri.
Having just come back from enjoying a friday lunch close to the cairn I have to agree with you, although sadly today the murky weather kind of spoiled it a bit.
Thanks for sharing this scenic walk, I could not find place where you start your walk at 1:15 can you Pls let us know where exactly it is ?? then it would be easy to find walk path you took
Certainly. Best place to start is Rothay Park in Ambleside. Walk through the park, away from the town, until you reach the bridges over the river. Cross the river to a minor road, then turn right and walk over a cattle grid and on to a junction with a narrow road to your left. Turn left up this road, which is quite steep. It winds around towards two houses which sit on the right on the outside of a left hand bend. Walk past the houses and then a little further on go over the wall to your left. This is the stile at 1.15 on the video. The paths up to Todd Crag are narrow but quite clear, however, since the video was made the ladder stile giving access to the viewpoint has been removed. There is now a stone stile in the wall, so looking for a wooden ladder stile will prove fruitless. Also, if you are using an ordnance survey map it shows Todd Crag as being further west, beyond Lily Tarn, whereas the Harvey Superwalker map (the one that some Mountain rescue services use), shows Todd Crag as on the video. Most locals identify Todd Crag as being the one on the video. Beyond Lily Tarn the path is grass and at this time of year a bit of bog. However, as you go down the fell the path is clearer, and once you reach the track down to Loúghrigg Tarn, is very clear, as shown on the video. Hope all that helps. Take care, and have fun. Pick a nice fine day, Loughrigg is no fun in the mist.
