Lake Geneva mailboat jumper tryouts: 'I don't want to like splat on the window' 

looks like a fun job for me. i am very fit and fast. if only they had such a job here, I would have applied immediately. haha

Why not just put the mail box on the end of the pier?

This seems so dumb to me. Why wouldn't they just put like two of these teens or two people whatever on a little boat with a motor and have them do a round around the lake once a day? Like why does it have to be from this boat that doesn't stop? You know how many kids have probably got hurt doing this and ruined their summer

Gotta wonder how many people had their utilities turned off because their payments are at the bottom of the lake.

What age do you have to be to be hired doing that? How much does the job pay? What happens if a jumper gets hurt on the job? Does the job come with health insurance? How long does the mailboat jumper typically stay on the job? Does the employer give equal job opportunity to people with handicaps?

Hope the teens get hazard pay!

It seems that there may be people who are practical jokers and who put something heavy or hard to remove in the mail box so that the jumper has to pull hard and maybe struggle to get the mail or package out of the mailbox. What happens if the jumper cannot take the mail out of the mailbox for whatever reason? Let's say the mailbox is packed with mail and it all cannot be easily pulled out of the mailbox. Is the jumper supposed to abandon the task and get back on the boat or is he or she supposed to keep trying to get the mail out and l not get back on the boat and wait for the next boat that comes around to hop on? Anyone know?

This shows greed. Pay not worth the risk of injury, and job doesn't develop any long term skills, unless the kid wants to be a long jumper in the Olympics. Why can't they slow down, safely check each one? Cause people there put money over lives and safety. They should pay the extra cost of having the boat safely stop and allow the mailperson to safely get on and off. Bet they don't care if a kid jumps, hits head and drowns, will say he/she consented to such a risk for low pay. Disgusting.
