Something I saw on a decorating show here in Canada years ago …. the designer suggested changing out some small pieces like pillows, throws, etc. for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. She also changed out some seasonal artwork. My main decor in the living room and dining room is grey/cream/white. For October to the end of March I use mustard coloured accessories and from April to end of September I use blush coloured accessories. I love how it looks different and refreshed just by switching out small pieces.

I think the fireplace corner would be a perfect and cozy reading nook. A cozy chair and side table next to the fire as you sip a cup of coffee in the morning or chilly evening.

Kristen, another suggestion I have is to remove the gallery prints from the wall that connects to dinning space. It seems too busy. Try an etagere/bookcase…. Adding a touch of greenery would be nice too.

This! IMO why the space feels off to me on screen is because there are too many thing competing for attention. Without the gallery wall your eye would naturally travel from the gorgeous massive mirrors behind the table over to the new mirror and fireplace. Making the fireplace the focal piece. I would really be playing around with less decor in that space and more focus on the fire place as the key “decor” item because it’s STUNNING and I feel is getting lost in all the gallery prints and bookcase.

The prints in your upstairs hallway really brought it to life. The piano/ keyboard throws the space off. Maybe placing the dinning table closer to the fireplace and the piano facing the window. Or the piano around the corner by the fireplace. Love the summer touches fun.

Everything looks fantastic. I think it would be more fantastic to find wall art at thrift shops or second-hand stores rather than downloading stuff from Etsy or wherever. Museum prints are also a great option.

I'm glad you found a great new front doormat. One of my pet peeves is an undersized doormat. I don't know why manufacturers are stuck on dinky 18x30 mats that are not as functional and definitely not as aesthetically pleasing as a larger mat. Kudos to you, Kristen.

Love your videos & professional, clear presentation style!! Your area around your fireplace would be a cute small library. I can see the fireplace going, a big cozy leather chair, floor lamp, bookshelves full of books/decor. It would deviate some from your overall style but w/your talent you could blend. The intent being something a little hidden, though out in the open!

Have you considered putting the keyboard over next to the fireplace? It seems almost in the way, where it is now. If I was playing the piano there I would feel like I was in an awkward spot and in the way, since the bench would be scooted out into the flow of traffic. It seems like under the pictures next to the fireplace would be a perfect place. Maybe with a bookshelf full of books against the other wall and a comfortable chair, it would seem perfect.
