Lake Fontana here in western North Carolina is a very special place for many reasons. Beyond the scenic beauty of this pristine, natural landscape, the extreme fluctuation of the water levels here each year is noteworthy. Join us as we share a bit more about the annual “lake drop” and how the changing water levels affect us as full-time floating cabin liveaboards, as well as a glimpse into our week (as always) and what projects we have going on lately. Hello Sarah. We have been watching you a Brandon for a while now. We love the channel. We live in Ednyville NC. We met Brandon today when we stopped for a hotdog at the corner store. Sorry we missed you, we would have loved to meet you also. Brandon is just as he is on the show. We both enjoyed talking with Brandon. We appreciated him sitting with us for a bit and giving us a little tour of your lives. We talked about sailing, something me and Shaelagh have done and miss. Well I'm as bad as a run on sentence. Love it. Your videos are just lovely. The stain is gorgeous, and I also love all the explanations about the nature of the marina. (p.s. Isn’t it wonderful your fiancé found the perfect job that just fits him?) We actually live on a small boat at a marina part time, and in an off-grid cabin part time. Our puppy, like yours, loves it too. I take a lot of your ideas into mind, when I’m working on my projects. 🙂 Next, we’re working on our little rental cottage in October…so I’ll probably need your videos just to relax! Lol. Those projects there are a bit more intensive and expensive…Thanks again for sharing your life! 💜🍁🙏🦋

Wow that's a big drop. When the winter rains hit here on Vancouver Island our lake comes up 6 ft. I can walk downhill to my wharf and be walking uphill in 48hrs.

I was camping at Holiday Harbor in Georgia, not very far from you on Lake Allatoona a couple days ago and the water levels there were also pretty low. I was wondering why. What a beautiful and peaceful place it was.

I'll say one thing , you are one BUSY girl. All that staining you did, But boy does it look fantastic. It's also a good thing Mr. Brandon knows how to move all of those ropes when the water level goes up and down, that would confuse me something terrible. That was funny when miss Iko was growling at that big cat on the shore line. I hope she don't ever get into a tangle with one of those wild animals looking for food. Enjoyed the video.

Aw thank you! Yes brandon’s got the boat adjustments for the lake drop figured out thank goodness, it still confuses me some too 😅 The bears have always been scared of Iko and ran off, but not sure how it would go with a bobcat! 🤔 let’s hope we never find out!

Its a lot of work to live the good life, but well worth it when young enough. I assume you now have two, maybe 3 houses to move. Being old and lazy, I now spray our fence and deck with a pump up garden sprayer. It works great on vertical surfaces, however, it has to be rolled after spraying on flat surfaces.

You may just have to wait and see about the water levels. Natural cycles occur. Look at California and lake Mead. From a dry lake bed in areas where the water levels dropped by tens of feet to it being 86% full. (Compared to the average) That took place in just the span of the year.

I'm new just subscribed love the content. But around 8:14 it looks like a bear hiding behind the rock and tree limb , I even see 2 eyes does anyone else see that or is it just me. I also see glowing eyes under those rocks 😮

Yayyy welcome aboard 🏴‍☠️🤗 Hmmm I don’t see it! I can only see the bobcat haha. I’d be shocked if there was a bear being still right by the bobcat though! I’d think one would go after the other. Definitely possible though, we’ve got plenty of bears in this area.
