hey I visited portland and i absolutely loved it, Lake Oswego was one of the most beautiful area in all of portland that we visited but it was also the only place in portland where my girlfriend and I felt profiled a little bit, i didnt think much of it unlike my girlfriend, i thought maybe the restaurant we went to just had bad service but it extended to not just how the restaurant treated us ( we went to holy taco) but also received glances from others, something we did not experience in all other cities we visited in portland. I do plan on seriously considering moving to portland and lake oswego was a town i wanted to take into consideration but after doing a little bit of research many forums did mention a fair amount of racism there. I want to know if this info is accurate or if it is coming from maybe groups of people who just dont want anyone new moving to portland because of the influx in population growth and my just simply had a bad experience? Just looking for a second opinion?

Uhhmm..... Lake Oswego isn’t part of Portland, they are 2 adjacent cities. It may just be me, but as a resident of LO i take it kind of offensively

My mistake, the point of the comment is to gain greater insight into the concerns of the area that I and from what I gathered many others have experienced also. What about my comment offended u? I am simply asking if this concerns are valid? I am not stating that this is how that area is but asking for a second opinions on the matter. u have said that I mistook lake oswego for a part of portland , thanks for clarifying that, I'll be mindful of that distinction. Since you're from that area your feedback on what I said would genuinely be appreciated, I don't think anything about my comment were toxic in nature. they are concerns that I hope aren't true but I'm mentioning them to gain more info from locals and others before I seriously consider the area. the area is beautiful and I would like to live their possibly someday but if these issues are real it would be nice to know more from locals before moving there. I hope this conversation is constructive in nature. I am not hear for any other reason beside knowledge about this area before moving.

I grew up around the West Linn, Lake Oswego borderline, by marylhurst college, Every time I would tell people that they would assume I was rich, nope we were poor, we lived in an old beat up house that was built long before the area became rich, funny how that works!

You missed all the racism. I bought a home there in my early 20’s, we lasted 6 months before the vandalism of my car and constant harassment ran us out. It’s not called “Lake No Negro” for nothing. Disgusting history of racism that continues to this day. Should mention that since not everyone who will read this is white. Funny to mention the 1 or 2 NBA players that live there trying to push the idea it's diverse (or full of famous people). It's not. If you're a person of color I'd buy in Hillsboro over Lake Oswego
