We have lived at the lake since the 1970s and the OffShore Racers and Large Cruisers are ruining it for families who live here or want to vacation here. If the "Lake" wants it to be treated like an Ocean allowing constant continuous waves, then they need to allow for piered docks and walkways ... why should we have to pay the price for the damage done on our docks each summer season. I no longer go out on the weekends, and many weekdays, since some Boaters just have no regard for their actions, don't understand the stopping and turning distance for their boats, don't understand that their boats cause waves and many waves are so large they damage docks, swamp boats and throw people around. I realize these individuals bring money to the lake, but they also cause others to not spend their money on the lake or near the lake since they don't want to risk their lives just to go get a burger. If it takes having specific "lanes" for traveling on the main channel, wake control, and training so boaters understand that it's not just the speed they travel but the consequences for going too fast and at a slow speed causing large waves. There has to be a way to make it enjoyable and safe for everyone including their properties and docks. Each year I see it getting worse and worse and it's not everyone, but those that just don't care or just don't know boating (and think they do since they own expensive boats).... just cause you can afford it doesn't mean you are an expert.
As anything goes at lake Ozark at least Assess a TAX on gas and boat registrations on lake. Put money in trust for main channel dock sea wall erosion control/repair replacement. The lake also needs noise control regulations or perhaps defined boating months for loud and over sized boats.its really getting bad getting to the point that nobody wants to put up with it anymore. To noisy dangerous and frantic.
