I took a short day trip to Lake Rhodhiss on the Catawba River chain. Unfortunately, the fishing did not match the scenic beauty of the lake, but I attribute that shortfall to my poor angling skills rather than the fishery itself. I definitely will be going back to find redemption.

That fish has stirred up a lot of controversy. I thought it was a spot. You suspect it’s a LM. I have other folks messaging that it was a smallie. I don’t know what it was-im actually not good at identifying questionable fish because im legitimately colorblind and can’t see any of the patterning. Spot was my best guess, but y’all are probably better equipped at identification than me.

I'd definitely like to go back, but currently I'm having to cut back on my extracurricular travel because gas prices are so darn crazy. But I'll definitely give it another shot once things get back to normal. Thanks for the tip!

Great video as always Josh! Man the shad movement had been weird this Fall? One of the weirdest Falls I have fished in a while. The normal shad activity in the backs of creeks on Wylie for me has been non existent. Found massive amounts of shad the other day in 25-30 ft of water in the mouths of creeks which is strange this time of year? Tight lines. Keep the videos coming!

Same. This past weekend I was on Norman at Stumpy with a buddy. We went from the middle of the creek, to the back of the creek, then back to the mouth and never saw a bit of bait. I don’t know where it is, but it isn’t where you’d expect it.

I think it might be that and the nuclear plant on Norman. I have another upcoming video where I fished Norman one day and Lookout the following day. It was a 10+ degree difference. I was NOT prepared for that one either.

I remember fishing back in the 90s on Rhodhess we fished a Friday night tournament about every weekend I'm guessing that they didn't have to slow down going under that bridge at the landing because we got washed into a piling at takeoff lol beautiful lake

It was really beautiful. That’s always my fear during the summer when I see these kayak night tournaments. Bass boats don’t give us adequate distance during the day when they can supposedly see us. I don’t want to be on the water with them when they can’t.

I do better at Rhodhiss over Lake Hickory honestly,Try Tater Hole access point.Good spot for kayak and bank fishing.

Nice job. Had some luck on Wateree this weekend with a simple shad swimbait on a weighted hook. Nothing else seemed to work. Where do you think the Catawba river fish go? Was thinking about doing a float down from the dam to about the pump house.

That’s an awesome float. And the good thing is that section of river holds active fish year round. Highly recommend.
