We fish Lake Roosevelt a lot. Troll for trout and Bass fish the rocks down near Keller Ferry. It's a lot of fun and always catch fish. But, I would never let another man set the hook for me and then hand the rod off to me where all I get to do is reel. Maybe these two guys that hired the guide don't know what they are doing but, a lot of the fun is setting the hook, and bringing it to the boat to be netted. When I was teaching my kids how to fish I would set the hook and let them reel it in, until they got old enough to do it themselves. I just can't imagine someone else setting the hook for me. Just weird if you ask me. Either the guide needs to give up some control or these dudes need to learn to fish.
@@JoshDub78 Its pretty common on a guided trip, especially when using downriggers and/or planer boards, alot of people aren't familiar with how to set the hook or release the line. Not to mention the back of the boat gets a little crowded if you get a double, one guy playing a fish, the guide has to run the kicker, grab the net and release the planer.... and make sure the other guy gets to catch his fish. Its easier and more efficient to set the hook and hand off than to play shuffle foot: guide moves out , guest moves in grabs rod/set hook, then has to move again so guide can return to action station run motor, help other guy and net. Or he can just set the hook and hand off the rod and let guest land fish while guide controls boat, tackle, and nets fish...even if there is a double. Ive only been on one guided fishing trip in the ocean, but I do take family on trips alot and I use the technique, nothing is worse than guests losing fish because they cant get to a rod fast enough because "someone" was in the way and they miss the strike. Worse yet is if you have to spend an hour detangling line from your kicker because someone didnt know how to properly real in a planer at the back of the boat.
They plant that lake so hard, all winter long rooster tails pulled at 2 mph along the shore line. bubble bee and black both good, big ones use 20 lb line! youll catch some scrap fish like walleye and bass.
Justin, your video's are very well produced but your audio is always so low. This is youtube, not TV which means you can crank it up a few more decibels. Upping your gain will make your videos much more audible for laptops and smart phones.
The audio is set at -18dB at the TV network's requests. I could crank it up for You Tube but that might distort the audio for people watching on TVs and computers with regular speakers. On my computers the audio seems OK. I'll check with RU-vid and see what they recommend. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching.
