We recently made a special trip to the Boston sidewalk that started it all.
10 years ago we released our cover of “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5, and today, from the very same spot, we share with you a live version of our newest cover “Nick of Time” by Bonnie Raitt. Call us sentimental, but it just seemed fitting

Whoever monitors this channel doesn't want the location released. I found it 10 years ago after the release of I Want You Back. I had two kids attending two different Boston colleges and became obsessed with finding the corner. I posted an answer to your question including the location and but it was deleted. In all of my years, I don't think I've had sucha crush on a female voice as Rachel's! The control, tone, tambre is the most soothing and emotionally electric thing I've ever heard, a female Sam Cooke to me. And she's ridiculously gorgeous (stop, I have a Gatorade)! I've introduced countless people to LSD (wait...is THAT a thing?!? Lol) and I DREAM of running into y'all randomly and telling y'all how much I LOVE this band! Oh, and the bassist, you are SUCH a breath of sunrise beach air! You EQUALLY deserve your flowers for your role. I could listen to you just practice by yourself. Long story short, if you guys perform where I can attend I'll be the kinda tall, bald guy incessantly grinning the whole time. LOVE ALL of y'all!!!

I'm an old guy who doesn't listen to much music post 1990. I tell my kids the music today just isn't any good and there aren't any real bands who use actual instruments to make real music. It is all computerized music. I have been proven wrong. I recently discovered Lake Street Dive and they have quickly become one of my favorite bands. They are awesome!

Sometimes I think we fool ourselves about the music of our era. Most of the hits that we enjoyed were played by studio musicians. It saved on studio time cost, allowed virtuosos to add incredible tags and improvised solos, and gave us uniformly well played hits on the radio. Today, the producers work to get the image that the record label wants. They use post production to clean up vocals and add any kind of musical track they want. Even the best artists are often subjected to this treatment. The good news is that we have more talented musical artists than ever before and they can be heard in live recordings all over the internet, where their raw talent is on display. What a great era of music we live in today.

I'm in COW-lumbus, Ohio as I KEEP checking my calendar waiting for August 17 to come tap me on the shoulder and say "Your Singing Friends are Finally Here".....I have my tickets to The Show At The Rose in Huber Heights which is just down the road in my State Of Ohio! Lake Street Dive became Family almost 5 years ago! Their music is a Family Photo Album for my ears to groove on! I've read that their outdoor sessions are recorded with a quite sophisticated sound rig and crew nowadays, it shows. This is yet another superb LSD performance. I miss the Duck, but thankfully the current lineup is still great. With vocals, bass and (ever so sensitively deployed) percussion like this they can perform anything superbly.

Absolutely beautiful. I'm a singer, I've played with a number of blues bands and a Pink Floyd tribute band. This is one of my favorite songs. I've done a lot of Bonnie numbers. People often request me to do Bonnie, as my voice is somewhat similar. I'm really flattered by that, I love Bonnie so much and she is my inspiration. But this woman, she's just outstanding. Positive: The lost art of background vocal harmonies from the band is wonderful to see make a comeback. I love seeing people actually play what they are playing and sing what they are singing without a backing track. Eat your heart out Taylor Swift, there's no team of a dozen producers and formulaic songwriters creating a track for "the artist" to gyrate to here. Negative: The "grape grown with a rubber band around it" outfit.

Love it! Y'know, I love anything they do, but it's always better live - a sign of true musical talent. They're actually BETTER when they don't have time to sweeten and perfect everything. Just listen to Rachel here, improvising at times and recovering from minor "mistakes". It's brilliant on the same level as any master musician that depends on ears rather than (or in addition to...) written music or other formal guidelines. Django comes to mind... And every time they set up and play the mix/sound is different, something to which they adjust extremely well. This here is really dry and spare, the opposite of the version they did in the bathroom (I think?) that was very echo-y. Doesn't phase 'em at all. These people are the best band out there right now, even without McDuck. See 'em now, and often, before you live to regret it!
