A few years ago, I remember hearing Ain't No Sunshine in Notting Hill and I immediately fell in love with the soul in this song. Bill Withers is an absolutely legendary artist. This was always one of those songs that I just sang around the house... doing homework, cleaning my room, etc. but I never considered actually singing it. Then after I reaaally started liking to sing, my mom suggested I learn this one. The band is so unbelievable on this, I really hope you like our rendition :) xx canen

My sweet lord. This girls voice is taking me to a place,,,, an old dimly lit saloon, creaking wood floors, ethereal smoke that hangs motionless, whiskey bottles 7/8 empty without labels or writing, 5 guys with no expressions on their sun-withered faces hiding beneath wicker hats hunched over their hands at a too-small round poker table in the back, and a woman’s voice, Smokey & smooth voice that seems to be coming from everywhere n nowhere, “ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone” Sultry and earthy, almost effortless, this is a special kind of voice…. Glad I stumbled on this vid.

Well in truth the only way for an artist (cover band or just a fan) to properly cover a song especially a popular one is to own it. I mean plenty of people can and do make "good and faithful" copies/replications of popular songs. Very few can properly own their own version of it.

They not only did that. But did it regularly and with massive critical acclaim. That's extremely rare. Showing what remarkable ironic artists they were.

No it's a cover. A rendition is just sampling music that's already been made and changing the music and even lyrics to make it different to your own taste

@@ChodyRay I think it falls somewhere in between. The music is essentially the same and the lyrics almost identical but the lyrical perspective is altered and informed by our knowledge of the singer. So it is mostly a cover but with a different perspective. I hope I am making sense.

It was competent, but hardly remarkable. There was no weight to the voice. At all. Perfectly fine performance for a 13 year old. Maybe by now she will be coming into her voice properly and have something a bit more solid to work with vocally.

Somehow being right..Having a "large" space to showing of.. The drummer only hitting the drums.. Like all "music" is about: First "players" first having time to show in "a" particle time..others being ignored! Being "random" talented! I don't get this! Try "hitting" a drum once..or a cello hitting a note..: Drum= Beng!..Cello having "feeling" extra to show! Sure being liked for all. But take the drum out..how does it sound then? (I'm not a drummer at all! Only questioning what "is" to be liked in music..)

I was amazed how the cello commanded and controlled the song(in the best possible way) the whole band is tight,I didn't hear anybody needing a speeding ticket. But that girl is SMASHING IT,if she was only 12 then,I don't know what she's been listening to or where she got that old soul of hers but DAMN.

Ive listened to this version of this song for the last 7 years at least! It is by far my favorite! I always come back to it, and definitely is even more awesome in an accoustical room! Clean, simple, clear!
