After a season derailed by injuries, the Los Angeles Lakers have been busy this summer. First they traded Montrezl Harrell, KCP, and Kyle Kuzma to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Russell Westbrook, giving LeBron James and AD a big three in LA. Then they acquired veterans in Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington, and Kent Bazemore. They also added some much-needed shooting in Kendrick Nunn and Malik Monk, who both shot 42 percent on catch-and-shoot 3s last season. This is a similar version to the big 3 Heat in a way where Lebron will play power forward a lot more and will have AD at center like how Bosh did and Westbrook will slash to the rim like Wade. Ariza can be like Shane and Nunn is a better version of Chalmers. Melo is clutch like Ray in the corner with more scoring and Dwight is a better Chris Anderson or Haslem. This could work if healthy.

Neither have enough experience, or have excelled, in off-ball roles. I'm not confident that Russ and LeBron will be able to function in a manner like LeBron/Kyrie or LeBron/Wade because those teams did not have AD who is much better than Bosh or Love ever were and cannot be expected to be the 3rd wheel on this team. It's also not as simple as "Let Westbrook get you to the playoffs and save gas in the tank for playoffs", the regular season is a rehearsal for the playoffs, so if you're expecting the Lakers do be doing some kind of 'your turn, my turn' but reg season vs playoffs then that's not realistic, they won't have gotten enough reps in with LeBron and will need to adjust from how they play with Russ - this is a sure fire way to lose. They will need to figure out how they'll have all 3 of their stars playing 30-38 minutes a night within various rotations and to do so in a way that leads to efficient and winning basketball but they also need to consider what adjustments other teams will make and whether they can counter adjustments accordingly. One way or another LeBron and Russ will need to figure out how to play with each other because they don't have any other choice.

@@snowmanO07 of course it does. It means you are distributing the ball. Sometimes it’s your teammates fault for not expecting the pass or handling it and therefore the passer gets credit for the turnover. So with turnovers AND leading in assists it shows you how much he shares the ball.

This is such a horrible comparison and I am tired of seeing it. Not only is this Lakers squad younger, Lebron will make sure they have chemistry. 2013 Lakers had 0 chemistry whatsoever. Also the 2013 lakers had a horrible bench. 2022 Lakers have a MUCH better bench. Added Carmelo who is a 15 ppg scorer as well as a 40% 3 point shooter. Yes he is 37 but he was the Blazers 3rd best scorer. You do understand Steve Nash was 39 years old and was expected to start for the Lakers in 2013 right?😂 Malik Monk 12 ppg 40% 3 point shooter. He was a solid role player for the Hornets and contributed off the bench. Added Dwight Howard who was a huge reason the Lakers won in 2020. Wayne Ellington who is a better and more consistent shooter than KCP at 42% from 3. They added Kendrick Nunn who was a 14 ppg scorer for the Heat last year and was efficient as well (48% from the field). And last but not least, they added Russell Westbrook. He is 32 and plays like he is 26. He will fit well with Lebron because his most efficient year of his career was when he played off ball with the Rockets. His only weakness is that he cannot shoot. What did the Lakers do? Add multiple 40% 3 point shooters to surround him with. There were more additions they had but those were the best in my opinion. Long story short, they will be far better than the 2013 Lakers.
