What's the difference between a lake, a mere and water? Well, we weren't sure, so we went on a bike ride to hopefully try and find out!

What an awesome day! Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. I grew up in the Lake District so it was a real joy to watch. I’m coming up at the end of the month to swim in Lake Windermere where I swam every summer as a child ☺

Hello! I have the impression of having dreamed and this is often the case when we drive at night far from any light pollution. As for these colors, a touch of magic! In terms of lighting, as for the headlamps, I always have the removable battery + 3xAAA rechargeable batteries to replace it and the Fenix flashlight (the side-rear one with the fluorescent orange cone) also with removable batteries. I don't have any device with a fixed battery even my Samsung smartphone has a removable battery = durability and reliability. Thank you for this magnificent film where we feel like we have been at your side! Enjoy summer time^^

Apparently some maps from the 18th century called bassenthwaite lake , basswater , just to make it more complicated 🤪Another great vlog, showing places we have been over the years and still love to visit ( for us living quite close , go out of season ) , colours in the Autumn are amazing, as you showed in some of your previous beautiful vlogs . Thanks for sharing .😊

Yes I think we came across this fact, what a conundrum 🤯 and we thought it would be an easy question to answer 😅 yes I think the Lakes are beat enjoyed out of season when they're a little quieter and as you say the colours in autumn are just amazing! Thank you, really glad you liked it 😊

It’s like the trick question, “How many lakes are there in Scotland?” Answer: just one, The Lake of Mentieth”. The rest are either lochs or tarns.
@joshandsarahride
@joshandsarahride 27 дней назад
Is that true? Because if so I've got myself a new triva question 😅 what is the difference between a loch and a lake then?

Just wondering the cause of these rural lakes being not so clean? Farming waste etc? I was born and raised and live in the state of MN( Minnesota), once known as the land of 10,000( now 14,000 lakes) including Lake Superior which is considered an inland sea. Our lakes are still very clean and some pristine..thanks for sharing your adventures!
@joshandsarahride
@joshandsarahride 28 дней назад
Unfortunately this is becoming more common, windermere, the largest of the lakes in the Lakes districts is no longer considered clean. These ones I think atw consider more ecologically sound. What is it like in minnesota? Are the lakes considered clean?
@susannewhirley8709
@susannewhirley8709 28 дней назад
@@joshandsarahride yes our lakes are very clean, statewide. There are some lakes around the Twin Cities that probably aren't as clean as the outlying lakes. Alot of our lakes are glacial..we have great fishing and the Walleye Pike is our state fish..excellent eating. After watching some of your bike trips, I needed a nap!

@@joshandsarahride Lake comes from Old French. Water and Mere are both from Old English but from different waves of Anglo-Saxon settlers to the area. Or maybe via the vikings too? ANyway, it's the same reason Torpenhow Hill* means Hill Hill Hill Hill.

Windermere is also a town! To add to the confusion it is about 1.5 miles from the lake. The town by the lake is Bowness on Windermere. It’s all the fault of the railway which ended here. It was meant to continue into Ambleside but objectors and cost stopped it. So that people would know where they were when they got off the train they called it Windermere except it’s not! I live there and frequently get asked by visitors , “where is the lake?”
