Lal Qila is one of the most important historical monuments of India associated with many historical events of our country, but it is difficult to understand why the Government has handed over this monument to a private company for its maintenance in the name of csr. The provision in the mou which empowers the company to decide the price of ticket itself nullify the very argument that the company will restrict itself to maintenance of the monument only. Our historical monuments are not only some structure made of concretes, they are linked to our identity as a country irrespective of our political, social and religious beliefs and these monuments should not be used for fetching goodwill or revenue of any company.Chapter iv a) Article 51 of our Constitution which speaks about the fundamental duty of citizens of India says it is the fundamental duty to protect the rich cultural heritage of our country. So it is the very duty of every right thinking citizen of this country to raise his/her voice against giving upper hand to the private companies in the affairs of cultural heritage.
