@greycloudnine

There’s one thing I noticed about Lamar when analyzing his throwing motion/form is that it is very unorthodox. Opposed to traditional throwing methods, i.e stepping into the throw, Lamar heavily relies on his arm talent to distribute the football. However, when you think about it, it makes perfect sense that Lamar would develop his ability to make accurate passes on his toes. Mobility is a huge part of his game so, I can imagine that working on a traditional throwing form would be counterintuitive to his play style. One thing I can say that rings true for all walks of life is that you have to find what works for you and I wholeheartedly believe that Lamar has found what works for him. I’m excited to see how he develops further into veteran status.

I swear Lamar’s the best decision maker in the league.
@googleisskynet7312
@googleisskynet7312 5 месяцев назад
He leads the league in pocket time. He's not the quickest decision maker, but the decisions he ultimately makes are usually good ones because he has enough time to make them. This is due to his escapability and a good O line. Without his athleticism and/or a good offensive line, I think he'd get hurried and he'd make a lot more questionable decisions.
@gmanz5
@gmanz5 5 месяцев назад
@@googleisskynet7312I think a lot of that is vision and pocket presence. Sometimes it takes time for some concepts to develop.
@chrischilds368
@chrischilds368 5 месяцев назад
@@googleisskynet7312 no, his most valuable skill is his ability to by time combined with his decision making. The defense literally has to cover for two plays. Even when the first play call is a bad one Lamar extends and usually gets big chunk plays. The unfair thing is Lamar can play on schedule with the best of them. Pass Rushers have to change the way they rush Lamar because of his dynamic running. 8 literally helps his receivers because he can buy so much time it makes it easier to uncover. He also helps the offensive line because the D line can’t go full speed.

JT at 29:30 you said you never heard about anyone talking about Lamar intentionally drawing defenders in to him to make a play. I would like to suggest you listen to @FilmstudyRavens analysis if you want to hear someone talk about Lamar's leverage and gravity for pulling in defenders. Ken runs his own scoring system for O-line play (which the Ravens pay him for) and his podcast is listened to by Ravens players (and all the O-line for sure). I'm just trying to say Ken isn't just some guy, he's a well respected (by NFL players) Ravens analyst. You won't waste your time here if you (and anyone else who reads this comment) wants to hear about Lamar's unique style find his offense review analysis. Ken routinely discusses Lamar Intentionally drawing defenders close to him, completely under his own will, getting them close then juking them after he has achieved the leverage he wants for the particular spot in the play. Ken compares Lamar's leverage use to Mohammed Ali. He said that Lamar is the most skilled person at using leverage since Ali. He recommends watching the "Ali dodges 21 punches in 10 seconds" video for what Lamar is doing with leverage and reading the leverage a defender uses. No worries if you don't want to find Ken. But I highly recommend his show and I think you would like it.

@jtwestful
@jtwestful 5 месяцев назад
That’s a pretty huge claim. Biased against his “intelligence”. You are getting dangerously close to calling a top 1-2 classiest franchise “racist”. There are several confounding variables. How about a couple: - Lamar is a unicorn. He may end up as a top 10-15 arm talent QB and is hands down the best running QB ever. Caused an overbias towards his legs. - Harbaugh is too loyal to everyone and should have let Roman go a year before he did. Maybe two. And I’m most likely a much bigger Lamar fan than you. I just also love the organization and am happy to call myself a fan. First black GM who is still in the building and locker room many years after he began. Maybe be careful with your words.

21:00 All of these throws are so beautiful to watch. It’s akin to the mechanics of a baseball short stop. It looks like Lamar generates most of his torque with his shoulders. Allowing him to make throws off platform no problem, just like a baseball fielder. In baseball, fielders have to make throws to basemen on the move. However, throwing a football is much different than throwing a baseball. It’s that mechanic that makes Lamar unique.

Good stuff as always. On that last play, I'm just guessing that 88 (Kolar) realized that he'd just run right by his man and ad-libbed a route into the end zone because he realized he was wide open. The defender just stopped and let him go by so it's a clear path to a TD with nobody in the way. As soon as he gets behind the defender he turns his head around to look ('hey look I'm open!') and that's why he sees the ball before 80 and goes over to get it. Either that or he's a greedy jerk (probably not) who ignored the play to steal a TD.

It's weird how the Ravens offensive limitations over the past few years all have been spun as Lamars personal limitations. The Ravens biggest issue in the playoffs(offensively), has been a lack of offensive depth and poor gameplanning. In 2019 the Ravens were rolling leading into the playoffs, but both Mark Andrews and Mark Ingram were dealing with serious injuries that limited their impact. In that playoff loss to the Titans Jackson had 365 yards passing, 143 yards rushing, Ingram was severely limited and only had 6 carries for 22 yards. The biggest difference between those seasons and this season is this year we have been hit with injuries at skill positions but we have likely and Kholar stepping up, we have Edwards and Justice stepping up, we have backup WRs (Wallace, Agholar) that are more than capable of making big plays, and starters that have made plays all year. Monken has done exactly what he said he was going to do, he's spreading the field, spreading the ball around, letting our playmakers shine, and attacking defenses in the passing game in ways Roman(respecfully) never did. I hope whoever the Ravens play in the playoffs come in expecting the 2020, 2021 or even the 2019 Ravens, this team is so much better, and that's not even getting into the defense.

Field gets the same criticisms, deservedly so, and Lamar is clearly the better quarterback at this time, no comparison intended in that regard, but where they do compare with other greats are two very important categories that end up winning a lot- LEADERSHIP and CLASS. It really matters, and if people will run through walls for you, you will win, you can’t do it alone.

One thing if anyone knows is a review of the defense or where they did well or did bad. I’m still learning a lot and wanna know not only what the offense did well but where the defense messed up their call or coverage. Any help is appreciated

Can we please get a MVP debate? If the MVP is based on just two games, then give it to Lamar. If it's based on 2+ games, Lamar is NOT MVP. 17 passing TDs, 5 rushing TDs and 13 turnovers in 14 games this season. SMH.

@nickdotson21 maybe, but I still believe he's the best all-around wr the Ravens have. Just not enough chemistry between him and Lamar since they both have had their own injury issues

@@michaelosborne1584 its not even close i think. Batemans routes are so crisp and usually has pretty good hands. Zay has him on speed. This is the first yr he really been healthy
