I've recorded drums for multiple albums and EPs and yeah... it can definitely be tough getting everything done. Especially if you're paying out of pocket and don't have days and days of studio time to get everything super perfect. It's just nonstop take after take for hours and hours at a time. No time to rest, take a break, or really take in the whole process. It's still always worth it in the end, but it is definitely a grind. Luckily, modern technology has made it much easier to record yourself. I hate to admit it, but I program my drums these days because I can write and re-write until it's as good as it can be and the drum samples now sound every bit as good as a live recording and I can do it myself without spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on studio time. I can't lie, I don't miss the stress of the studio. So long as you can play what you program, it's all good.

I really love how real this documentary was kept, and yet how it ends with a very optimistic feeling. I felt I got a very authentic sense of the good and the bad of everyone involved. That feeling of creative conflict (which every good band goes through) was SO palpable, it was almost TOO real ( felt both the misery of not having your ideas be accepted AND the awkwardness of not liking ideas presented). It is crazy to see how laser focused Chris was during this time, then to see him bow out, or back out, or quit, what have you. I think the motorcycle accident put some things into perspective, change his priorities, and just saw LOG as too much a machine and not fun. People think being a rockstar is fun and games but it’s a difficult way of life. Grueling touring schedules, sacrificing a normal family life, a normal social life, etc. I remember Corey Taylor one time said something along the lines of “people think I get paid to be on stage. I would do that for free. I’m paid the 22 hours of the day that I am not on stage”.

Woww thats great ! that 2007 show is probably is the best of their history. I saw them this year here in my country Colombia the blew my mind. Randy presence is brutal. I wish i could saw them with Chris.

This album came out when I was 15 or 16 years old and is the reason for my addiction to this genre of music. Still my favorite band today.

Chris hating descending is part of what makes it great. Turned the drums up to 11 probably out of spite but it took the song to the next level.

I was recording bass for a blues musician named Eli Cook at Sound of Music in Richmond VA while LoG was on thre third floor recording Sacrament. I remember Randy recording the chorus to Redneck in the vocal booth for a half hour straight saying the same lines over and over. He came down to the kitchen area and looked worn out. Randy was really fun to hang out with. We were showing each other stuff from Google earth on our laptops. The other guys were kind of standoff-ish. But in their defense, they were working and making records on their level is high pressure.

When Chris started to talk about a festivals headliner I really thought back to last September. Last September I went to see log, megadeth, hatebreed, and trivium. When Lamb of God went on stage I was so excited I was shaking. Mark & Willie are my guitar heroes and John is my favorite bass player. Randy had so much control of the crowd and he really captured everybody’s attention. It was an amazing show

I think the producer is the craziest member of the band. What a goof.

Listening to Chris talk about 'I don't want to stray too far from speed metal' etc., seems like such a departure from what he's been saying about not wanting to 'paint by numbers' and stick to a formula. (Yes, I get that this was a long time ago.)

He always was the more "metal" in the band. So yes, is very weird when he say that in the explanation on why he leave/was fire from the band

I've never been a Lamb Of God fan but this is incredible. I used to play in a band so I understand everything they are saying about the writing process..from wishing the vocalist was around more, to being the guitarist who brings a whole song to the band.. The respect that these guys have for eachother as musicians is genuinely inspiring.

I Love Heavy Metal. As a fan and musician. These guys created songs that stood the test of time. And got me through hard days at work. It's kinda funny that some people don't understand this type of music. As I loved 'sacrament' and stuff out now. I believe they are truly great artists, I had the pleasure to meet them. These Gentlemen are damn good people . 🤘

By far the worst and hardest part about being in a working band is the gear. Moving it and setting it up. My idea of success was simply making enough money to pay someone else to move and set up my drum kit. We practiced in my basement. So playing a show meant packing up my drums and loading them into my car. Plus whatever other gear I had to move for the other guys because they left it at the house. Then get to the show. Unpack my drums. Set them up side stage. Move them to the stage for our set. Play our set. Move them back off the stage if we weren't headlining. Packing them up again. Loading them into my car. Drive home. And if I had to, unpack them back into my house. Then, THEN, I could sit down and relax. Destroyed my back over the years and probably the main reason I stopped being in a band. I love playing music. But I hate moving gear.

I was 17 and saw you and Bodom at the Rave in Chicago for Unholy Alliance. It was one of the best show experiences I have ever had, 17 years ago. These records, these sounds, these emotions shaped my metal youth, and here we are fucking 17 years later where my children can pick Randy's voice, and Lamb of God's sound out of all the metal we listen to. Thank you for the 20 years I've gotten to listen to.
