Very few songs have transitions that good imo. Tool's Parabol/Parabola is another example but they're very rare. Its just such a good shift into the energy of In your words. And then as if it wasn't sick enough, the brief drop to those low ass growls before the high scream on "for hypo... CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUGGGHH" is still one of my favourite metal moments of ever. Just, mmm.. 😗👌
I saw them do it live in KC in 2009....the stage was completely black for the intro and as soon as In Your Words started the stage LIT UP.....one of the coolest things I've ever seen!
In the movie, "Immortal Beloved", Beethoven explains how hearing great music transports you into the mind and emotions of the composer. I think this song is an excellent example of that concept in modern times.
Yknow actually. When you dissect that It REALLY makes sense Like when i listen to this album im not angry. Im hyped. Execited. Its like im watching these emotions play out in someone elses mind. And revelling in how much i relate. Sometimes i even cry its so overwhelming (last of the wilds by nightwish was a trip when i first listened to it i *literally* cried like a baby and was somehow just as hyped as while i was listening to this not sad)
A friend of mine passed away and till the very last moment he fought like a king, till the odds be in our favor and meet again in a better place. The passing
I don't know about you kids, but I'm 60 years old and love this shit. When I'm done with some LOG and Tool, and a bit of Disturbed, I usually mellow down with a bit of slayer, Pantera and Megadeth. You guys don't know what your missing. I been doing this for decades. LOL Please enjoy the great music before they take that away like the Free Speech is going, know what I mean?
If they ever take away free speech and most of all music. A revolution is coming, I don't know about the rest of you but I wouldn't mind fighting for that cause.
That breakdown... When metal music is done right (as Lamb of God are experts at) I truly think it is beautiful. L.O.G, Tool, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend. Such artists
One of my most precious memories with my father is him playing the lead gutiar part to this entire song while i sang it at full volume on his amazing stereo. The vibe we had from how hardcore it felt to copy them was astounding.
I remember when this album came out when I was in high school, this song started and I was like "Okay, this intro is pretty sick," then in your words started and I was like, "Alright, this is def lamb of god," then Randy Blythe screams his ass off (2:14) and I just burst out laughing, "That's how you start a fucking album."
This song still slaps hard af 10 years later, did some 2ce and tripped balls to this album and Dax Riggs say good bye to the world great times miss em tremendously
More like the Govt and us not working together and them blaming it on us for such acts. Dont be gullible but we need trust bad. Never over analyze and use ur intuition
The Pandemic, apparently, is over, what with the CDC all in for the protests and riots happening. So, like, yeah, cities are being destroyed... but not from a virus that has a .026% mortality rate. Cities were never crumbling over this "pandemic" anyway.
@Richard Emmons Ask and you shall receive, my dude www.wcnc.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/data-cdc-estimates-covid-19-mortality-rate/275-fc43f37f-6764-45e3-b615-123459f0082b . Granted, we still need to wait to see the true numbers (if we ever get them, seeing as apparently gun shot wounds and vehicle accidents are now being counted as COVID deaths), but nowhere near the number you gave. Not sure where the hell you got 17%. Perhaps you're confusing the infection rate- which is considerably high- to the fatality rate? But, with so many young people testing positive and being asymptomatic, and with no large swabs of deaths (while death totals lag a couple weeks, the most recent stats show they're actually going DOWN, not up), shouldn't that prove that the virus is, in fact, not nearly as deadly as the media wants it to be? And no worries, my man: the family and I already had the Rona, and aside from a bad cough, I'm good ;)
my favourite LOG's song, I had listened to it 15000 times and still I want more... every time I go crazy for that! if I had to mention one song to display what LOG's sound is I'd choose this... masterpiece!
yeah it is actually quite awesome but i dont think this song displays what lamb of god sounds AT ALL.. i mean this song and Grace are 2 of the few songs which are softer than all the others
I went and seen them for the 1st time at The House of Blues in Myrtle Beach back about 12 years ago. I was with my mom, my brother, and my best friend. It was one of the greatest fucking times of my life. My brother was shitfaced, kept sneaking in the VIP section and getting yelled at. Drank a 5th of tequila before we even went in. It was one of the best Beach trips of my life (not because of the alcohol), but because it was such a more simple time, and at that time, I had really great people with me. My mom's on the verge of drinking herself to death now, my (old) best friend is in prison. And my brother is dead. So much has changed since then, but these memories, this music lives with me forever. Thank you, Lamb of God, for pushing me through some really dark times, to help me experience the incredible ones! 🤘🤘
Feeding my baby brother while while listening to this. When The Passing ended and In Your Words started he started headbanging. Only for a second, but still fucking awesome.
I remember when this album came out I hated randy blythe's vocal performance on this song but as time goes by it gets better and better and I find myself coming back to it
I could honestly put 4:30 on a loop and listen to it for days, no joke. My favorite part of the song. Plus the ride pattern with how thick the guitars sound is pretty damn awesome. Lol
LYRICS: A sacred cash cow with sickly tits Dripping temptation for hypocrites To death she's beaten The prosperous endlessly stating the obvious Caught in your words, sever the knot this time Somebody show me their true face Face me once as I leave all that I despise Face me as I unleash this hate refined Indict the blameless Transparent designs Pathetic and shameless, crucified A legend in his own mind, enthroned by lies A cheap Machiavelli plots his demise Caught in your words, sever the knot this time Somebody show me their true face Face me once as I leave all that I despise Face me as I unleash this hate refined Face me as I leave all this far behind Face me as I unleash this hate refined What once gave life Now infested with plague The lamb lies with maggots Blinded, gagged, betrayed What once gave life Now infested with plague The lamb lies with maggots The corpse bloated with rage Face me as I Hate refined Source: Musixmatch
Donovan Burleigh not from a drum point of view, but their guitar, vocals and over all sound is a heavier, more "lamb of god" take on that southern / groove metal style that pantera did so well after phil anselmo joined.
@@TheMissing8 I just discoved and Opeth like 4 months ago, this is one of the first days i actually listen to anything else. Their old stuff only of course
I come back to Wrath now after all these years... I knew it was great on the first listen but it's a truly a fantastic album. I don't know if LoG can repeat the success of As The Palace Burns or Ashes of The Wake but this is as close as it gets imo. Seriously beautiful metal.
Heaviest intro and opening song I've ever heard, in any band, ever. Far Stepper/Of Wide Sea is the only other album that even comes close to the amount of heavy on it's opening and first track.
The rest of the album is just as amazing on it. Like it doesn't even ruin the songs. Like the *only thing it even does* is make them faster. Not harder to understand. Nothing. Literally just makes them even better
there is so much passion in these songs that makes you feel stronger and somehow more emotional in the end... amazing music!!! the best album of the year!!!! \m/
It would be just as believable for them to be a beastie boys reference The lead singer grew up being into punk rock not metal Like green day instead of metallica
