Hi every one its that time of year again and i am back on the moors with the 223 on lamb protection, this certain farmer was having problems with crows so i took the Sako 223 to help him out.
Great video Simon, looking forword to seeing you n Jack on the pigeon 14 is a very good age mate and the reason he has reached this ripeold age is your love for him and a lifetime of doing what he enjoys doing best 👍 I am with some of the other comments think about another dog Jack will have a new lease of life even if it's for a few months bless him. As we watch our dogs age and eventually pass away the pain we feel is the price we pay for their love and all the fantastic times we've had together. I don't think Jack will ever be far from you mate. Best wishes from Garry in sunny Devon oh and an ear scratch for Jack from me 😎👍
Solid pest controll as always and what a beautifull area to do so. Cracking shot timed with the sway of the tree and the crow didn't make it easy. Its sad that jack cant join you as often anymore as both of you would like but 14 years is a very respectable age. Seeing him enjoy just being out almost brings a tear to my eyes.
Awesome video mate and it’s good to hear migratory birds in the background which have come home to nest and this is what it’s all about protecting them and their young so we keep enjoying them year after year. Great footage, cracking shooting and awesome to see Jack out and about.
Simon it’s always been a complete heartbreak for me to have to watch my loyal hunting partners get old. But I found that I could put a new one in place and he would start the learning process from the old one. My heart feels for you brother.
Brilliant video as always. Great humane shots. The scenery there is breathtaking at that time in a morning. Can’t wait for the pigeon video and Jack. 👍👍👍. Forgot to say Crow in tree was textbook😂😂😂👍👍👍
Always enjoyable to see Jack out in the good daylight along your side Simon! Maybe a companion for Jack is a good thing for you too. Nice productive day among some beautiful natural surroundings! -Bob...
Well Simon, I think this might be your best video to date. I throughly enjoyed the “threading the needle shot” on the last crow. Thanks again for your efforts and sharing your knowledge. Cheers. 10:42
I’ve had a female black lab and a female chocolate lab, they were both hunting dogs. Hunted them over duck, pheasant, dove, quail and band tailed pigeon and they were excellent.
Cracking shooting, my friend! Good to see 'ol Jack is still around, I'm just getting to where I'm thinking of getting another dog after losing my 15 y/o/ Aussie Tucker last August. Those little shitheads really wiggle their way into our lives and hearts, dogs are just the BEST.
great video. good shooting. always a real treat when you get another one out. Jill sounds like a great idea. be a shame to see that rifle go. but the 90 gave me an itch too. walk softly mate....
What a corker 😮.. shooting that crow in the tree was perfect, especially with the windage. Top notch stuff. Moving on, 14 years is a great age for Jack. It was wonderful seeing him and quality of life is essential , I’m pretty much in unison with nearly all of your other followers. Get another dog , why not? She or He will fumble it for you from the start 😊😅. Good luck 😉 God bless and looking forward to seeing Jack again.. ❤
Well shot as usual, good to hear the different moor nesting birds in the background, as you say, doesn’t get better. Looking forward to the pigeon video and your best pal Jack.
Always a great watch mate, and yea it would not be the same as with out Jack bless him, and i know only to well what it feels like,,,, Cheers mate 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
I normally don't watch intros... but yours are always a bit different and the music seems to always fit the background. Fist shot is spot on, as always. Saving Jack for afternoon pickups when it is warmer makes it a bit more comfortable for the oldtimer. Jack still has the tail wag.👍
Awesome video Simon and excellent marksmanship the perfect timing on the tree swaying to take the shot was amazing. I think getting another Lab would be perfect for Jack and you and it will give Jack another companion to share what he has. I wished that I would have gotten another pup for my boy Chevy it would have made it easier for him and me, we did get another Lab my Chevy passed away suddenly on December 23rd 2021 and I was lost without him on March 4th we got a new Lab puppy but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about my boy. Cheers brother always here for you 👍
Ye thanks Donald i actually still miss my first Jack as this one is my second one and again he's at that time of his life bad news really pal but the show goes on i suppose.
I though that third Crow had moved at the last moment. But it hadn't moved enough. Love the Countryside and scenery. I miss my Yorkshire Dales so much.
Thanks Simon for another excellent video. Did you learn your shooting skill in the Shaolin Monestry? The start of the video where you are walking across an arid landscape with the big sun , and the flute music and your muted clothing put me in mind of an episode of KUNG FU starring David Carradine 😀 😉 😄 xx
Wait a while after Jack, sometimes a new dog will find you it is weird but its true i couldn't do it after Max missed him so badly great mate. Well timed on the last crow 👍
Nice to see the carrion crows getting a bit of payback. I’ve been shooting them to keep them off my suckler calves.they land on the calves back hop down to the head end and peck them in the eye. My tikka super varmint in22-250 soon gets them shifted I’ve been using hornady express 50 grain vmax . They average 3660 f/s out of the 20 inch barrel the end result is the same but a bit more time needed to pick the bits up at the end. Get that new rifle as well you can’t have to much of a good thing people tell me.😊
Another awesome video Simon! I like that action on the Sako, so smooth. I’ve found Berger 55 grain varmint excellent in my .223. Hard to find and too expensive. The Vmax is working great for you. Time for me to try them out. My best to Jack.
Good shooting Simon. Looking forward to seeing you and Jack on the pigeons. I am always looking for excuses to get another gun. @1943L`s comment sounds reasonable, we will all miss Jack when he can`t get out anymore.
Exceptional shooting at some distance 👍. It’s black labs that got me back into my shooting after a 4 year period without out one. I’ve a 6year old and a 2 year old lab , hopefully she’ll be in some sort of form for this years game season. Working progress shall we say.
Great shooting, enjoyed the vid . Those flocked decoys are good, especially when they get legs lol.. I'd keep the 75, and re barrel when needed. In the meantime look for a new companion for Jack.👍👍
G'Day Simon,,mate I feel for you and your Jack,Lost my fare share of animals, and even to-day when i think on them,Shared a tear,, and Jack 2 won't be the same as Jack 1,,But you have another 10 years or so to make it happen,, really think Pets were put on this planet to teach us about death of a loved one,, as you said "Life it is"
Great content as always Simon. Your skills with the camera are getting so much better buddy. I'm thinking the shot on the magpie was super impressive, it gave you just a small opportunity and you nailed it, very nice indeed.
As someone who sells Sako rifles here in Western Canada, I would stick with your Sako 85. The new Model 90 is way overpriced and personally I don't think the new action is worth it. Oh and the cost is wat too much. If you are worried about shooting out the barrel of the 85, buy a couple of spare barrels and have you gunsmith fit them for you when the time comes. Just saying.
