Dinner is served everybody, and this episode #27 features lots of homestyle country cooking food items from Lambert's Cafe in Ozark, Missouri!! Lambert's Cafe is famous around the midwest and Alabama for their throwed rolls and delicious homestyle food favorites!! Their motto is, "Come hungry, leave full, and hopefully have a laugh or two.” I ordered four of their homestyle entrees, including chicken fried steak, fried catfish, chicken and dumplings, and a BBQ pork steak. That all came with 9 side items total and I also got to enjoy some of their famous throwed rolls and "pass-arounds" which are typically served to diners while waiting for their food. Lambert's is known for their “pass-arounds” - onion fried potatoes, fried okra, macaroni & tomatoes, and black-eyed peas. I ate some of each of those along with the 9 side items my entrees came with. I enjoyed two of their warm throwed rolls and finished my meal with a huge "Hubcap" Cinnamon Roll.

Nice, I went to the one in Ozarks once but the one in Sikeston is only 20 miles from where I had lived in New Madrid and been there 30 or 40 times. They use to let you order the main course and if you eat it you can keep gettin' that for free as well but they had stopped that a year ago. The sides I like the okra and the potato/onions as well as the rolls with the sorghum

Baby when I tell you me and my friend will drive from Mississippi to foley Alabama for those rolls and fried potatoes and onions. Yes sir when I visit from Atlanta we get in the car and drive out to the beach and then go get Lambert’s omg yes I miss it

Omg!! I love Lambert's Cafe. I have only been to the one in Foley, Alabama. I recommend everyone trying it. They throw rolls at you and give unlimited selected sides. I was going to go to the one in Ozark, Missouri but decided to check out Paula Deens restaurant instead just because I have already been to Lambert's. Both are super good.

I first would try the fried catfish and coleslaw; then a little chicken fried steak. I may be too full after that. Yes! We have apple butter in the South! I’m not a dessert person but will eat apple pie, chocolate cake and most things chocolate and cheese cake! Good BURPEE!!!

@RANDY if you ever go back to Germany, then don't try international food like burgers, steak and Nachos or cliche German food like schnitzel and pork knuckles! Try the very REGIONAL and diverse German quisine! Like several regional fish and crab dishes in the north like Labskaus or Palantine Saumagen in the west or cale with potatoes and Mettwurst in Westphalia or several regional stews, Maultaschen, Dampfnudeln, Spätzle and several game dishes from the south Kassler pork, the ragout-like Pfefferpotthast from Westphalia Graupensuppe, Linsensuppe, Sauerbraten, Reibekuchen, Möhren Durcheiander a super delicious carrot-potatoe stew with rips and Mettwurst commonly known in Westphalia... and there are so much more German dishes no-one knows!

Country gravy is top tier gravy. Great on meat, taters, biscuits, even stuffing. You can add crumbled sausage to it or not, great either way.

I bowl in the Greater Ozarks Open Tournament in Springfiield, MO and I always seem to find Lamberts for a great meal before leaving the area. They have a such a great staff and much needed delicious food.

@stufoo All my trips to MO are for business so I've been to many of the great steakhouses and BBQ joints (which everyone always insists on going) but I've managed to slip in a few mom-n-pop pizza and sandwich shops. But yes, the Ozarks are definitely on my list.

I think I was most excited to hear you say the word sorghum!!💗 Not many people know what that is (It’s pretty old school and mostly seen in farm county) or the many amazing uses it has.👍 It’s a great alternative sweetener for pumpkin or pecan pies too and can be used as a gluten free flour substitute!! The nonprofit farm I work for (Little Farms for Veterans) is growing it and hopes to reintroduce it to the general public as a healthy and cheap alternative to some ingredients 😊💓

If you ever come back to North Carolina, you should visit either Greenville or Wilson and eat at Parker’s Barbecue. They do a “family style,” usually for two or more people I believe, but they keep bringing servings of Eastern NC style barbecue, boiled potatoes, corn sticks (like corn bread but in stick form), Brunswick stew and fried chicken. Hey Randy You look tons better than 6 months back! Seriously did a bang up job losing that extra weight. What is the purpose of the Dinner is Served series? Is this the training aspect of your food challenges career? It seems awfully expensive to train like that. But kudos to your dedication!

The Dinner is Served series was partly training for official food challenges and partly to support local business!! I also wanted to encourage others to buy food from similar local businesses in their area!
