They are antibiotic pills, as they are born onto straw there is a higher risk of getting infections through the navel so we give them all a pill to prevent illnesses such as joint ill etc .

They have numbers sprayed on them so you know who the mother is, if they get separated they can be reunited easily as they both have the same mark sprayed on them. When you have a field with 50 mothers and 100 lambs between them it is the only way to ensure you know who belongs with who. As for tags, all sheep legally have to have a tag with an electronic chip in . It is against the law if you do not have tags in your sheep.
