Lambing season on the ranch is one of our favorite times of year. It marks the tail end of winter for us right before the pastures here explode with grass and the Scottish Highland cows start calving. The North Idaho freeze and thaw cycle has started and in the same day we can get multiple bouts of snow, rain and sunshine, in no particular order. This week on the ranch one of our favorite sheep mamas has three beautiful Katahdin lambs and we captured all of it on video. We also adopt a few baby lambs that were rejected by a different sheep mama and our kiddos raise them up on sheep formula. The lady of the house here keeps us well fed with fresh homemade sourdough and oatmeal so we can power through chores around the homestead. Thanks for coming and joining us this week on the farm!
About Us: Thanks for joining us and our four homeschooled children behind the scenes as we run our ranch together and enjoy traditional mountain living. We raise Scottish Highland cattle, Katahdin sheep, Berkshire pigs, and barnyard chickens on 100 acres in beautiful scenic Idaho. We are a Christian family that drinks raw milk, raises our own meat, works with our hands, and hunt and fish together to help fill our freezer.
This channel won't be flashy or exciting. We love the beauty of old fashioned slow living as a family. From here on out we plan on posting content from our daily lives around the ranch as we cook and eat together, learn together, build from scratch, steward the land, and tend to livestock as a family. We also make and consume a lot of sourdough bread. :)
