My first Matchbox Power Grabs Unboxing. Matchbox returns to its roots with the boxed Power Grab models, and now with the new artwork they look fantastic. Here is a look.
I will always appreciate these as an alternate method to display diecast. I've only ever seen one Hudson Hornet for sale in NC and it was in a Toys R Us low on a shelf in one of these boxes tucked back behind a few others in the case. It was one of my best finds in the wild.
Mattel distribution of Matchbox and Hot Wheels to the UK is terrible in general. We miss out on so much you guys get regular. If your reading this Mattel, there are thousands of collectors in England. We are fed up continuous empty pegs, shelves and no Hot Wheels dump bins. On a lighter note, great video as usual thank you👍
I wish Matchbox would switch to their old school boxes, or the Tomica ones. The fact that these can't be closed back on their own is a real bummer for me.
Kmart in australia does not stock any matchbox cars or products only hot wheels.. Some supermarkets stock both matchbox and hot wheels cars.. Target does stock some but not as many pegs as hot wheels gets... Big W which is a little like a walmart has a certain amount of matchbox mainlines and multipacks.. Toy shops are really the only stores that stock the boxed matchbox cars.. and a lot of old school toy stores have gone by the wayside because of online shopping and big department stores..
I really like the new artwork on the MBX Power Grab boxes (and on the cards). The stores here tend to charge $1 extra for Power Grabs compared to regular blister cards, but sometimes you only see a vehicle in one of the packaging types so you have to buy whichever form you can find ; )
You can peel back the tape very carefully and reseal it. That's what I've done with all my powergrabs, it just takes 5 more seconds of patience to open it.
Is there a difference between these boxes and the cards with blisters? Are they the same models? I've heard that the boxes are for the European market and the card ones for the North American market. I find both versions here in the US
Never seen a Matchbox case of "Power Grabs" before (these are not sold in my country). These little boxes look nice with the new artwork and If they were re-sealable as well, they'd be ideal recreations of Matchbox's past. BTW the outside case box mentions that it has 48 pieces in total. Thanks for the presentation.
You mention cutting open the tape, but I find it easier to just peel the tape on one side of the corner and then keep it there to reseal afterwards. The tape peels off rather easily. I've got over a dozen Power Grab boxes that have intact tape holding them shut, even without the cars in them. The cars that were in them...are currently on display.
One of my friends bought a power grab matchbox GULF FORD RAPTOR,but it turns out,it is not GULF!but rather a lamley`s leaks tire service with theblue body, orange chassis, and white wheels. What`s that?
Awesome! Could you please let me know what stores the bigger Matchbox's (roll back, fire truck) are sold? I live in the Albany NY area and haven't seen them around. Thank you. Big fan.
Working Rigs? They've shown up at Walmarts around and have gone just about as fast as they've shown up. Trying to remember which one I saw them in most recently.
Looks like an American version of Tomica but way more complicated.Doesn't like opening that plastic stuff, hate to tear it up before enjoying the fun inside the box.Sad it doesn't sold here in Indonesia remembering we are the highest market in the world for 1/60 diecast. We've even bring Jun Imai to us all the way from US last week on November 3-4 to a local toy expo in Jakarta.Mattel and other diecast brand such as NOREV and Welly to sold their products here faster before they fail to catch up with local resellers
Saw these in a super Kroger the other day but unfortunately the Audi was goners but I did p/u several carded RS6's at the next stop which just happened to be a Walmart. Really wish it had been the 1994 but yeah I know stuff happens.. did you ever hear if a 94 could be in our future? Oh when are we gonna get a preview on those C-case assortment team transports? That mix is bonkers!
I never see Matchbox in UK shops thesedays. Distribution is shit. I blame Asda in the UK taking exclusive distribution of them. Why do they call the line "Power Grabs?" Are they blind bagged/boxed?
I am so confused. 1 months ago I called Matchbox people , them some HR lady answered the phone. Well, next thing I heard, it was that power grabs are not supposed to be FOR sale in the United States. I told her I found at Kmart in York and Walmart in Connecticut. Bottom line is: "They" have no idea what they talking about. I know more about then they do. This video only proves that I'm right ! Power grabs are for sale in the United States for sure!🇺🇸
