Your review is very wrong. ..There is absolutely no 24 hr security..is called a gate that they lock at nite and the gate at the other end of campground is open all nite long where anyone can come in and out ... The campsite you listed as the best is totally wrong also those sites along the fence will niolate you in the evening from mosquito s by the water..and the views of the water are not there from mid summer on the weeds are to high to see the water.And shade trees are a joke there's no shade this place is like a desert in the high heat of the day .Camp host Bill n Dee think they own the place changing rules of how you now must back into every site. When John Mulligan ran the campground it was much more relaxed to camping and not all about who's breaking rules..The campground has a history of very loud radios at all hrs of the nite due to public parking lot across the street,which has min police patrol...As stated earlier camp host Bill n Dee close n lock gate at whatever time they want so if your outside of gate better have your walking shoes on because it's 1/4 mi hike n there's no other way back in..why there are no hrs on the gate never could understand.. The main gate is left open all day because it's been broken for 15 yrs since the day they opened...Toni from port Authority operates the place n really does a great job doing so....The only other serious issue is certain camp host can become real anal about vehicles touching their grass which is weeds, but the port authority can drive all over it ...overall the campground is a very nice place ...
Hi Don, Sorry you had some bad experiences at Lampe. We just went last month again and loved it. We never had an issues going in and out of the camp ground with our class C even after dark with a close gate. We also never seen anyone on the site that was not part of a camping group. We always stay along the fence and never had bug issues. I just figured with the huge bird population they just ate them all. The sites we like best have a great water views. Unfortunately they do not trim the weeds for our views but leave them mostly natural for the wild life and such. All the sites later in the season have lessened views due to that it is true. Also the heat ya it gets hot can't deny that.... We never had a problem with the camp host or any other people working there. You are right about hearing the radio's. The pier is very close and the people fishing do have them playing. But never heard them after dark. But maybe a party boat or two coming and going after dark. Yes it is a very nice place.
