Lamy A6 Notebook Review 

The review lines up with my impressions. The paper is sort of OK, I guess it's good for work where you need fast dry times. 🤣 I even had it feather with a fine nib and Platinum Carbon Black. I'd say it's similar to Fabriano EcoQua. I bought mine for 13€, which is OK, but I wouldn't really pay more for it.

It's funny, I'm interested in the notebook for almost all the reasons that you *don't* like it. I don't care about the pen loop, like you, but I like the heavier weight paper with a stiffer binding and I'm particularly interested in the paper. There's lots of "shading heavy" paper out there, but there are advantages (such as quick dry time and better water resistance) to an absorbent paper. I specifically do not want much shading, but I do want a lot of ink to go down on the page, and I'm happy to get a slightly wetter, wider line. I don't really care much about sheen either in this case, so the idea of a thicker, quality paper that is absorbent and won't shade much or sheen much is a real boon to me. Moreover, I'm a big fan of the ruling. 8mm lines is a decent height and the grids are quite useful for things like tables or outline type notations, which are two things I like to do in my notebooks when I journal.

Thanks for video, Not lying flat will keep me from ever purchasing the notebook. I have read reviews on Lamy notebooks before and they were not positive...I enjoy your videos , always useful information

I am ok with pen loops and ribbons, but that everything-but-the-kitchen-sink line/grid/dot thing is horrible.

Great review! The only thing I don't like is that the hard cover is very delicate and prone to dents on the edges. I hate ruining the immaculate objects. Am I the only one? Or I have some kind of obsessive-compulsive personality…

I bought one of these in the Lamy store in San Francisco but haven’t used it yet. I thought it would be a nice travel journal size. The feature I do like is the pen loop because I don’t have another small notebook that has one. I guess you have to choose the right pen. My Lamy CP1 fits nicely, but you would think they would have designed it for a Safari/Al Star. Now I must go do a test page myself.

its an very honest review ,it was your advice that i got three Platinum fountain pens ,Century 3776 ,M and F nibs and an affordable Maki-e with 18k M nib with rabbit and the moon pattern ,quite enchanting -pl take care ,God speed from India

What brand has paper like Tomoe river but as thick as Rhodia? I would like the cover to be like the Rhodia ones :) The closest I come with that is Oxford but I can only find ringed note books in that paper.

Is it me or are the clips of you showing the notebook not synced with what you’re saying?? You were talking about the line spacing and the dot grid and were showing the outside of the cover and the pen loop (might not actually be what it was). Idk I try to follow along but you’ll say something and I’ll have to try to remember what you showed because there’s a delay of like 5 seconds. Lol. Just pointing that out sorry if it comes off any kind of way.

Yea I had the same experience with mine, very disappointing. I rather like the grid (for handwriting practice at least), but the feathering is really bad. And all my nice shading inks look super flat and boring. Back to my Midori MD notebook!

I have those Lamy notebooks too and they do have a bit feathering. Maybe they are not really for FP

By the way, I watched this when you posted it. You talked me out of it. :) however, a note to Lamy, I still have several of your pens and love them all. Saved by the hardware once again. (another gizmo geek)

Thanks for this helpful review! From the outside, it looks nice, and the texture resembles the section of the Lamy 2000, but from the inside it looks like a disappointment. Feathering is a huge negative point, and the lining doesn't look good at all for journaling. The bleeding looks bad as well. At least Parker liked the ribbons! 😁

Thanks for this review. I had not seen this notebook, either in a store or on-line. Actually I stopped looking with a started using journal notebooks by Peter Pauper Press. They are FP friendly, and are a light ivory in color.

Super ironic, and sad, that a company famous for its fountain pens makes a fountain pen unfriendly notebook. Sheesh.

I would not but! I'll stick with my excellent choice notebook by Schuyler. They are the BEST.

It appears to be something that those who write with ball point or pencil to doodle or do math in. Those who enjoy grid, design and architecture may appreciate all the extras. Some split their notebooks in two sections. Perhaps just not for us ink-splashers.

I would expect more from Lamy, especially for $20! I'll stick with Rhodia. Thanks for the review, I was intrigued by these notebooks.

"Ink proof paper" can mean anything! It does not mention fountain pens as such! Could be ok with oil based ink as in ballpoints, or a mixture of oil and water based ink as in roller ball pens. I got a name suggestion for this notebook. "Lamy - Dare to Write", premium auto-feathered notebook!

I also have feathering and some bleed through in mine. Really disappointed. The build quality is low and the ribbons are frazzled on the ends.

I think your reservations are all valid. Quick point: The editing of the visuals are mismatched to the audio, as we see you examining the pen loop while discussing the page ruling. Also, we see the 'Autumn Oak' written on the page, which we later see you pen. Not unusual for most channels, but a bit odd for yours. Sorry to sound so critical. I really love your content.

This is not a one off.. the notebook is not the best for fountain pen use i guess.. i have used two of these and i was disappointed.

yeah I review ink samples and I cant recommend this notebook first off they want like 20 bucks plus for this if you go into the store and online their almost 30 so nope I will stick with my $10 walmart.com exceed 100gsm heavy weight paper I have never had a problem with that :)

Before buying, I assumed that a notebook made by a FP company would certainly work really well with FP. So, disappointed.
