Lamy feel the need to have a complete product range. The product looks interesting as it is half the price in the UK. Very surprising ATM. A5 is the size I use for exercise books. Look at cultpens for prices. Thanks for another interesting review.

Thanks. I bought a 3-pack of the A6 size the other day and am waiting for them to arrive. I've been looking for slim notebooks that I can put in my left pocket along with a pen in case I quickly need to jot something down when I'm out and about. It's quicker than losing a new note on my iPhone. Often, if you have an idea and don't write it down immediately, it's gone forever in my experience!

This is cool, although with how saturated the market for paper is, the question really becomes "who will buy this?"

It is more design thing, having Lamy pen and Lamy notebook to match. Honestly, I stick with Oxford notebooks, theyr paper is pretty good and they are reasonably priced and accessible for me. Staedler does nice ones as well but they are more Germany-focused and not as common. I must order Lamy notebooks online to get them, and that turns me off them.

While the paper does nicely with fountain pen ink and contains vertical lines useful as guiding points, it does create bubbling on the opposite side of the sheet caused by certain pen tips (same reason I dislike Moleskine paper), a quality of certain paper that I dislike. I don't care for putting out more money for paper like Clairefontaine and Mnemosyne; however, they behave very well with a whole host of pen ink and tip sizes (with finer tips producing depressions in the paper). Guess it's the price I have to pay for total satisfaction. Thanks for the video!

Rhodia or Quo Vadis Habana; either will do. I tend to lean toward the Habana as it comes in a size larger than A5 but smaller than an A4 and comes with white paper instead of ivory.

I also bought a notebook from Lamy, but it was a bit expensive. It has 240 pages of 120 gsm Gmund paper. I got it for 350€, but they at least included a pen. A blue Lamy 2000 :) Jokes aside... I like my new Lamy 2000 Blue Bauhaus and the notebook it comes with has the same ruling and is pretty thick. I think I need to check out some of their notebooks and see if they fit my needs or not. :)

From a certain view the outside cover looks like the Lamy 2000s body.

Looks interesting for kanji/hanzi/hangul practice with those gridlines, but expected more from it in terms of the writing showing/raising on the other side. My go to reccomendation for years now, for any and all note taking in uni has been the Maruman 'Spiralnote' or 'spiralnote ECO'. fantastic paper quality that is not that much worse than the rather premium mnemosyne series for much less. I usually just get the 30 sheet versions, which'll last be about a quarter/single period per subject, and makes for easy sorting/storing.

I like the ruling style, honestly. That’s pretty cool. Although I can’t feel that I’d buy it. I just currently have no use for it. My go to A5 notebook is the europa notepaper.

Is the grid 4mm or 5mm, making the horizontal lining 8mm or 10mm? Thanks

Hard to justify the price on these when Black 'n' Reds are so good and cheap.

Great review. Off topic but do you have any opinions about the Conklin Empire pen? I'm considering the rollerball. Also kind of interested in the Aurora Duo Cart roller.

Not unreasonable. The price is about right for the quality. I would not buy it. I rather stick to the loose leaf packs of Kokuyo paper.
