the comment i found: this video is talking about the LA suicide bridge, her friend jumped over it like hundreds of people did in "the Great Depression". What I understood from the video is that Lana was the first to commit suicide of that hill, she appeared in the smoke as a ghost and in the car as well, her soul stayed with her friend. The last one couldn't live with it, decided to commit suicide and threw herself off that bridge to be with Lana again. The last scene I think it was taken from the suicide bridge where Lana appears with a ghost (people tell stories about seeing ghosts wondering on the bridge).
My thoughts too. Also, "I got my red dress on tonight" seems like the song is from the perspective of the other girl, she is wearing red, so she is probably the second one jumping from the bridge, after her friend did.
There is no data anywhere that says Lana wrote this song about a friend that committed suicide, NOWHERE. Dont believe everything you see on the internet.
@@VelvetDreams666 no....???????? That has nothing to do with it. It's a song to make it as whatever you think it is, but nowhere in history has she said this song was written because her friend committed suicide. Stop spreading BS just to find a whatever meaning to a song just to feel better.
Anthony ur not getting my point. I was trying to state that their theory could be backed up by the music video. I’m not saying that the reason behind this song is because she had a friend that committed suicide. I was just trying to tell u the music video could be what drawing them into their conclusion of what it’s about.
@@whentheworldwasatwar8717 Supported you in the other comment chain but- this could be limited to the music video itself. It makes perfect sense in the video universe. Lana kills herself and then her friend keeps getting gloomy during the summer. Despite having her red dress, feeling alive, she'd rather jump off a bridge.
Check “Ride”, it’s one of her best songs ever. Also “Young and Beautiful” from the Great Gatsby soundtrack + “West Coast”, such a great song and different from what you heard from her so far and also “The Greatest”, one of my personal favourites from her last released album.
🤷♂️ When a beat drops harder than a body off a bridge and you got a heart colder than a fridge.... (I don’t know why I chose to rhyme this but it happened)😂😂😂😂😜🤪
the song is abt her friend and the suicide of her friend during the summer also love all the Lana Del Rey and Marina and the Diamonds stans in the comments
Mother daughter relationship? Lmao what...they're around the same age xDD. The song is about a close friend of Lana's who committed suicide. Jamie King plays the friend in the video but they're also friends in real life.
The Weeknd is the male equal of Lana when it comes to dark depressing topics. They've worked together the most and have even said their music resonates well with the each other.
YESS ANOTHER LANA DEL REY REACTION! Also still surprised that you didn't know Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift haha! I would love to see Lorde! she has some sad songs
Ride, National Anthem, Love, The Greatest, High by the Beach, and Doin' Time are some of her best music videos and you still have not gotten to one of them, can't wait
For the sad olympics, Lana is one of the first (not they very first) but one of the first that made the whole “sadcore” genre really popular in more mainstream music with upbeat sounds and sad lyrics. She kinda paved the way I feel like for this style of music to be really popular now like with Billie Eilish. Can’t wait for more Lana reactions check out ride or shades of cool😊
Yeah apparently theres nowhere online that says this song is about an actual friend that died. someone just started that and I remember reading about that years ago but it was never from anywhere other than a RU-vid comment so as far as I can tell no this is not about an actual friend who killed herself in the summer 🤷🏻♀️ not in real life at least
Lana Del Rey’s music focuses more on vintage lifestyle, old Hollywood, and sugar daddies Lorde’s music is about the coming of age, critique of materialism, and fear of aging Marina and the Diamonds music involves with satire and finding true happiness Lady Gaga’s music is about personal fears, self-love, and artistic expressions Melanie Martinez’s music is about how childhood has a domino effect on the rest of your life These singers might not all sing about sadness and are really different musically but they sing a type of music referred to as Dark Pop
H. Hadley Ultraviolence is all about a sugar daddy Brooklyn Baby tells about his age. And the whole album is about how she fucked her way up to the top and her relationship with that guy.
herb blowz She doesn’t talk about his age anymore but she clearly references him every time she mention New York, Jazz, Rock & Roll, The Band, Mustang.... I honestly think it’s a real relationship she had
Omg one of my fav Lana songs and this song is about her friend I believe who committed suicide during one summer. The bridge that’s filmed in the video is actually know in LA as suicide bridge because of the amount of people who have jumped off it to commit suicide, I believe it is also the bridge that Lana lost her friend too (I could be wrong tho! Please let me know)
The cool thing about cryptic music video, it’s open to any interpretation. The artist didn’t force us to see her perspective of her song. You can decide whatever you want the song or video to be if that’s works better and relatable to you! I like that. Your summertime sadness is different from my summertime sadness.
The next Lana Del Rey song you should react to is "Young and Beautiful" I think you will really enjoy both the song and the video. Another artist I think you should react to is Ben Platt, he comes from Broadway but last year released his first solo album, he has several songs out with music videos and I also think you will enjoy his music. Look for the videos for "Grow as we Go", "Bad Habit", "Ease My Mind", "Temporary Love". I would love to see you react to all of these, keep up the great work!!!!
Do shades of cool by Lana Del Rey. And other newer songs. My favorite song is Brooklyn Baby. I think in my opinion her saddest one is "IS THIS HAPPINESS?" She also has a lot of unreleased songs that get really really sad. Summertime Sadness to me is about falling in love at the end of your school year and they move away and you are left with "summertime sadness". I might be biased because she is my favorite singer. And she started as a pop singer and changed to alternative. You should listen to The Neighbourhood too. There album "I love you" is very dark. Bastille has dark music too, but not as dark as some others. Do listen to Lorde but her sadder songs dont have videos. Ribs is her saddest song in my opinion. To me it is about growing up and losing innocence and realizing the hard life of adulthood. I have more recommendations for you but I'm distracted rn.
I have playlists on my channel of my favorite artists before some got more recognized: Melanie Martinez, Niykee Heaton, Lana Del Rey, Halsey, Billie Eilish
ow I see it all. In this MV Lana jumps from the cliff or whatever it was (in the beginning), she's in white. Jamie (the other girl) plays her friend/love interest whatever and she can't live without her, she sees her everywhere, like in her car, for example; she has in mind all their moments together and all the fun, she is sad and cries all the time as you may notice. Then she jumps from the bridge, and later we see that they kinda meet again in those 'clouds/smog/mist', that mist symbolizes the other world, I guess. Also, Jamie's dress changes its colour to white. Lana's dress has been white from the beginning, so we may understand that it's her ghost from the very beginning that Jamie sees, or she lives just in Jamie's memory, and later Jamie joins her. One more thing, Jamie is the one who's telling this story, not Lana ( I mean in the MV) because it says 'I got my red dress on tonight', Jamie is the one and only in red. So this is a story from her point of view and she has this sadness because her friend committed suicide. And Lana can definitely relate to this, cuz her friend committed suicide, too. So in real life, Lana is the one who dealt with all the sadness of losing a friend just like Jamie in the video.
Billie Elish - Listen before i go, I love you Finneas - die alone Melanie Martinez - Soap Marina - Happy, Immortal Lana del Rey - 24, Video Games, 13 beaches, Ride
In a lot of her songs, Lana plays the role of a ghost, like how Kate Bush would play the role of the ghost of Cathy in Wuthering Heights. This is one of them, same with Blue Jeans, Shades of Cool, and BTD.
for the sad olympics I nominate Robyn. Songs i recommend: With Every Heart Beat, Be Mine!, Indestructible, Hang with Me, Call Your Girlfriend, Dancing On My Own and Monument which is about death. HAPPY LISTENING :)
This is why radio pissed me off.. they would play this song but remixed to be happy which it was far from and ppl would sing the lyrics and say it was a happy story ? They were far from the truth lol
lana's songs are so deep so many people can't figure it out. melanie martinez songs are full of metaphors, which i really loveeee about. lana's more like oldies songs but melanie's sound more catchy but so dark it kinda traumatized me (in a good way) like im totally shocked how tf someone could create such music
For me the video is about two friends, maybe possibly lovers. Lana, in the video, is only shown in the smoke or through clips that her friend took of her, meaning that she took her own life. The friend remembers her and mourns so much that she also commits suicide to reunite with her.
Also please please react to her performing a live cover of Nirvana's heart shaped box, she does a rocky belt that none of her songs ever show off and its considered on of her most iconic performances!
Katy Perry-The One That Got Away ...sounds very upbeat but is sad as hell, and has an amazing cinematic video. You should react to it! Katy also has another sad one called Thinking of You that she wrote solely by herself and features a vintage video with a storyline.
I can’t wait till he gets to k-12 by Melanie Martinez with her newest songs that are about topics today but he has to do it grade level style so like wheels on the bus then class fight and so on(I know the whole order but like typing it will cause a huge paragraph)
Can you pls react to megan thee stallion captain hook, or her freestyle fire in the booth! Love your reactions btw, would like to see you venture into some different genres
How many sad songs must an artist have to qualify for the sad Olympics? Kesha isnt known for being sad but boy does she have some hard hitting songs. Speaking of which, it would be cool to see you react to some of her stuff! Great video like usual :)
@@SuperJersh haha I didnt suspect so but the artists like Lana del Rey, Melanie Martinez, etc. are more known for their slower melancholy songs so I didnt know if it would just be artists like them or not 😂😂
Love the Lana reactions patiently waiting for the Ride video. Lol others have commented that it's about her friends suicide. If twenty one pilots is on the table Car Radio is a must 💜 gotta love those sad boys too
Definitely will be doing twenty one pilots but unfortunately I’ve heard car radio and about 4-5 of their other hits, but I’m gonna check out the ones I haven’t :)
