Yo Taylor, just a heads up, don’t believe everything people say in the comments, because a lot of Lana fans are uneducated and will continue to give you false information simply because they’ve heard rumors and don’t care to research the truth! For example, many people believe this song is about a friend of Lana’s who committed suicide, but there is zero evidence of that! In fact, Lana has stated that she wrote this song when staying in Santa Monica with her composer and best-friend-at-the-time Daniel Heath. She would “sit under the telephone wires and listen to them sizzle in the warm air,” and think about how summertime felt both “sad and gorgeous” to her.

From wikipedia: The music video for "Summertime Sadness" was filmed in April 2012 in Santa Clarita, California. It was directed by Kyle Newman and Spencer Susser. Newman's wife, actress Jaime King, stars along with Del Rey in the video, which tells the sad story of two women, who both end their own lives. King said about the video that, "It's about not being able to live without the one you love, friend or lover it doesn't matter, that's whatever you want it to be." Actor Alex Pettyfer reportedly also helped out on set as a production assistant. The music video opens with a woman saying, "Remember, I'll always love you, bye". After the phone call, Del Rey sings the opening lyrics and jumps off the cliff. The next scenes tell the story about two women (played by Del Rey and Jaime King) who have become suicidal. In the next scene, the forlorn King seeks out the nearest bridge in the city, then stands on its ledge in a tear-stricken state. The next scenes depict a statue of Jesus Christ, Del Rey looking onto the distance and a phone smashing into pieces as it hits the floor, hinting at Del Rey's realization that her girlfriend has killed herself. Feeling at fault for her lover's death, Del Rey spreads her arms wide mimicking the statue of Jesus Christ and jumps off the cliff. The last scenes show both women in happier times, Del Rey turns to see King and smiles; both women are seen pouting and glancing seductively over their shoulders towards one another. As the women embrace, the smoke in the atmosphere gathers and they disappear. It's shown, after both suicides, that a haunting image of Del Rey (presumably her ghost) is seen walking down a long road towards the camera

You can do Young and Beautiful and Burning Desire when you’ll do the Paradise EP because they’re both great songs with music videos but the are not in any álbum. She released those to songs right after the Paradise EP thats why I think that it might be a good idea! It’s just a sugestion 😁

I really enjoy watching people getting introduced to Lana’s stuff and really trying to feel it. You seem like you’re gonna become a big Lana like all of us. I discovered Lana like 7 months ago so we’re not that far haha. Another thing I wanted to tell you is that out there someone suggested you to watch the Tropico short movie. I think too that she is probably singing from the perspective of the girl in red dress, I noticed it just a few weeks ago. Also, if you go back to the MV of Blue Jeans, in the final scene, where the guy is dragging her under the water, she is making the crucifixion pose too.

The song is about the ghost called the lady in red and the lady in white. At the end she's the lady in white walking in the road. The bridge is known to be a place where people commit suicide by jumping off it. The line kiss me hard before I go. Means she's going somewhere and won't be back because there's no return . If you look at the music video there's a lot of spiritual symbolism.

IIRC this song was about a friend of Lana who commited suicide. My interpretation of the video is that just Lana trying to empathize and understand with what she was going through when she did it. I don't really think she was depicting her own suicide in the video.

I like your reaction analysis. But everyone can inerpretet the video as they want. Because it's art. And for me the woman and Lana are lovers. I think is not about sueccide at all. It's about summertime sadness. Summertime love what goes away or ends ( like in Call me by your name) and it feels like dying inside. Or it could be summertime is ending...and the sadness of that.
