I really wish people would do more research on the reasons why there's a movement to amend the 13th amendment instead of just going with the knee-jerk "muh slavery" stuff. The prison system in America is horrific and shameful and something that ALL Americans need to take a serious look at. Prisoners are oftentimes paid less for the hours they spend working than many people living in 3rd world countries. In Louisiana, they are paid as little as 5 cents/hour. How are they able to get away with this? Because of the wording of the 13th amendment. If you really care about human rights, and especially the rights of black people as we are disproportionately more likely to face incarceration than white people, then you would be on board with this as well.

i'm a fan of both, i'm a lana fan but i don't know how much further her image can really take her (ie. love songs get boring when there are real issues to deal with / it's a huge privilege to sing about lost love, etc. and her politics don't seem up to par to carry her through into the next chapter; case in point , this banks debate. Banks being delegitimized as an ''angry black female'' -- essentially discredited on the basis of race + culture -- for voicing her own opinions on the issue shows the latent racism that persists in the cultural imagination. furthermore, lana's response -- insulting banks' career to me is really sad and further indicative of the non-democratic values at the centre of society. as it's more acceptable to be an ambitious career-oriented white woman than it is to be an angry black female. well, what about the marginalization and systematic oppression that creates the need to voice angry opinions? should that be repressed so as not to be negatively labelled an angry black woman? also, i think banks is under-rated but i wouldnt knock her for doing her own thing. why is everything a measure of career success aka capital/how much money a person makes. so only people with mainstream success and lots of money can make ~intelligent~ points on politics. yikes, i actually can't believe ''lana'' - or elizabeth ahah - would say that cause i thought she'd be smarter but she prolly knows most people will agree with her as society is rly backwards so she's just playing the PC card to her advantage imo

There is more to Azealia than these outbursts. It's a shame that people only know her for this. She had an abusive childhood and struggles with mental health issues (BPD), but is actually so sweet to her fans and is SO talented. I just wish she would seek help, but it's not so easy; psych meds can have NASTY side effects.

lionel richie she does not have bpd (bpd is borderline personality disorder) she said she has bipolar disorder but i think she also has histrionic personality disorder. i guess doesn't matter but bpd is not what she has. i actually had a close friend with histrionic and she acts exactly like azealia- very attention hungry and willing to be the most problematic person if that means all eyes were on her. she would dramatically lash out at anyone just to be noticed, involving herself in situations she had nothing to do with for attention and took everything overly personal even if it wasn't. she was way too emotional, also WAY too sensitive over any type of criticism and could never keep relationships, friendships or any form of acquaintanceships due to her impulsively snapping at anyone if she felt the tiniest bit of any sort of way, slighted or 'betrayed'. that describes her perfectly. i have bpd and so this isn't coming from a judgmental state of mind, i know it's not easy and meds can have terrible side effects, that's all true. but i think she should really seek out help and get therapy for histrionic since DBT is a form of it that helps those with personality disorders, as well as her bipolar.

lionel richie BPD does not stand for bipolar disorder. It stands for Borderline Personality Disorder. All prescribed medications have negative side effects. She sounds like she does need to either have a dosage change or new ones introduced. That is the one of the hardest things because everything is a balancing act especially with meds for mental health issues because nothing is ever one and done since it is a constant struggle to figure what works, what doesn't. Prescription medication prices don't help either.
