I know this is an old video but ForeFlight only shows ADSB (connected to Stratus) traffic while in flight. While not moving, it will show internet traffic… I think they don’t want you relying on delayed data.
K 1st off you get a plane 2nd Cleeter gets a plane now if I wanna come hang with you guys Imma gonna have to get a plane............ watch out for hillbilly aviation in the skies near you soon!!!! I gotta souped up lawnmower gonna add some wings!!!
Ipad may not support that app due to its current ios system. I had to buy a more current ipad to run the latest apps. Just a thought I could be way off base. 🌴👍👍😎🌴
@@JollyRogerAviation @Jolly Roger Aviation Foreflight gets internet traffic data on the ground through wifi or cellular service (if you have cellular ipad). To get traffic data in air, without internet or cell service, you must have your ipad linked to an ADS-B receiver like the Sentry Plus. You may also be able to link your GPS navigator to ipad via bluetooth for ADS-B.
@@MelvinSNash my iPad does have cellular data but it is through a different carrier than my phone. Hmmm I’ll keep looking into this, thank you for the comment!
@@JollyRogerAviation I can link our GTN750 for ADS-B through bluetooth, but I prefer using the Sentry. It acts as a backup GPS, AHRS, and carbon monoxide monitor and provides a full PFD on Foreflight. Great peace of mind.
Interesting video. I enjoyed the startup checklist and hadn't even considered how that glass canopy might get really hot in the right weather conditions. Flying a single engine small plane like that is kinda sorta like riding a motorcycle, you're always looking for an out and head on a swival. The consequences can be quite similar in an emergency situation though. Bean wasn't on board for any of your shenanigans. Lol! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
I noticed your mains come up at different times. When the left main is up and the right main is still in the wind, can you feel the reduced drag on the left side?
You need to select Traffic in your map layers drop down on ForeFlight. I’ve found that I have to re-select this every time that my iPad loses signal. I have the cellular-gps version but I don’t have a cellular plan for it so I normally use the hot spot on my phone. If you don’t have an ADSB traffic device connected you will only be able to see traffic as long as you have internet or cell service.
Additionally, if you have a way to connect your ipad to your navigator (with adsb-in), typically wifi or Bluetooth, it will display adsb weather and traffic
Haven’t used it in a little while , but I remember there being a “traffic layer” you had to click on to show ADS-B traffic. Also if there is still a hide distant traffic option in settings , turn it off to make sure it’s not affecting something ?
@@JollyRogerAviation A neat little tool to get if you want to spend some spare money is a Garmin GDL50 or GDL52. It works flawlessly with up to two devices with ADSB in and weather. It's independent of the other systems and has a battery that lasts about 10 hours. On another note, I just acquired a Lancair 320. I'm not really sure what I will do with it yet. It's super tight inside, so I'm not sure if I can get in it. I was planning on flipping it, but one side of me says "KEEP IT". Your channel is not helping the flipping side of the plane. It's about a 2007 with a certified IO-320 with 150 hours on it. I'm liking your channel! Oh, I have to laugh at your GA "newness". I feel that way all the time and I have been flying since I was 18, currently 59.
I sent that right before you said Walla Walla. Your wife's response to do you wanna do a loop made my wife and I laugh. Great views and thanks for sharing.
@@JollyRogerAviation Thanks! I’m 6’2” and and wide across the shoulders. Any informed guesses about fitting under the canopy and legs under the panel welcome!
@@JollyRogerAviationyou find out the traffic part? Sometimes it turns off and you need to turn it back on. Also keep slight power in like 1200rpm and the landings will be perfect
I'm dying... yall were just like us the first time my wife flew in my new plane. 😂 Former T45 & EA guy guy myself who hadn't flown anything with a prop in 28 years
It’s so much fun!!! 170 for flaps 10*, 140 gear speed, 120 for full flaps. 120 with flaps 10* is a good downwind speed, cross the fence at 100, touchdown around 80
@@JollyRogerAviation Nothing really at the airport, but in town a favorite was Michael's Bistro. We were there doing flight test and MRJ. Inca Mexican had the best flan anyone had tasted. I'd go back just for that. We were there a lot too. Expense accounts got us a good look at everything in town.
